Hi,
I am looking to do some part-time work (20-30 hours/week) for a web hosting/web development company. I am currently a contractor/consultant (programmer), but will soon be going to school part time and would like some part time work to help pay for tuition. It needs to be off-site telecommute, but I am very flexible on pay and will do whatever it takes to prove myself to someone who is serious about finding someone with my admin/programming skills. I have very diversified experience; for your convenience here is a summary of my skills:
I am a Linux junkie so I am familiar with just about every standard Unix service. Particularly:
Apache - lots of experience. I can setup modules, SSL, virtual hosts (I've worked on a server with 4,000+ virtual hosts pointing to 100+ separate websites).
DNS (BIND) - same level of experience, with same number of hosts.
Sendmail - I don't think anyone can every truly master this beast (and lead a normal life), but I like to think I come fairly close.
Cyrus IMAP - including sieve filters, SASL, public/shared mailboxes, and IMAP over SSL
Also: DHCP, NFS, INETD, Cron, etc.
Although I love Linux (previous work experience includes developing installer for a Linux distro), I am also familiar with other flavors of Unix, including BSD and Solaris.
I feel I have pretty solid network admin skills, however I also feel that my development skills surpass them. Currently I do mostly server-side Java stuff: J2EE, EJB, Servlets, JSP, etc. I have EXCELLENT test scores in this area, as well as references.
I have excellent experience setting up Jakarta Tomcat (servlet/JSP container), and integrating it with Apache.
If you are wanting help designing and developing an e-commerce solution, I can help (especially if you want to use open-source tools).
In addition to Java, I am very fluent in C, and I also have very good experience with PHP (which I love), TCL, and Perl.
I've got many other skills as well -- if you are seriously interested, drop me an e-mail and I'll send you a copy of my resume (w/ references) and we can talk.
Thanks,
David
