I am currently setting up a site which is in itself a network of mini-sites.

I am using a new dual-xeon rig from rackshack running ensim pro.

basically i am looking to have around 200 sites each on their own subdomain

e.g.

site1.domain.com
site2.domain.com
site3.domain.com
... ad nauseum

will doing this in ensim cause any performance issues or should I just stick to...

domain.com/site1
domain.com/site2

effectively i want each site to be individually branded and i think the subdomain is much more what i want (more memorable as it almost just becomes part of the main domain).

what do you guys think will it kill the server?

Dont see any reason why it wouldnt work just fine. Each subdomain is just a new vhost container like it would be if you were adding the domains individually - and a XEON box can easily cope with 200 domains.
