I'm really looking at ACSDatanet (http://acsdatanet.com)'s "Linux 1" dedicated server. It seems to offer exactly what I am looking for, and the price is almost too good to be true. However, the one thing that I can't be sure of is ACS's speed and reliability.

If anyone has tried them, how fast have been your uploading/downloading FTP speeds, and have you experienced much downtime?

Well...if nobody has any comments on ACS, how does this server look?

CPU: Celeron 667MHz
RAM: 64MB
Hard Drive: 20GB
IPs Included: 2
Web Server: Apache
Set up: $150.00
Monthly: $49.95

It looks like a great deal to me (this includes 40GB of bandwidth), but will 64MB greatly hinder the server's performance?

When you say hinder performance, in terms of serving HTML files, no. In terms of processing mySQL calls, etc., etc., yes. Depends on what you are serving.

Thanks for the response, Chicken. :)

Yes, I would be serving other things than just HTML files. My forums get a lot of traffic right now (they're CGI). I presume they would be slower too?

Also, when you mention processing mySQL calls, would this include vBulletin, if I ever installed it in the future?

The good thing about ram is that it is easily upgradable. A busy board, or multiple boards would push 64 MB a bit, and I think you'll find that you'll need more depending on how busy the forums are.

I'm not sure what their policy is re: ram upgrades -but, ram is relatively cheap so maybe they have a decent deal. I'd start with approx. twice what you need, and upgrade as needed from there.
