I had a problem the other day where my stats stopped working on any of the hosts on my machine, so I decided to upgrade Webalizer 2.01. But now I try to go to http://www.domain.com/~stats and I get a server cannot be found message. Same if I just go to /stats.

I installed the .pkg from Source Forge. Should I have un-installed the old version first? If so, is it ok to un-install them both now and start over?

The /stats directory broke the other day after installing mod_gzip, if that helps any.

I would have ininstalled the other one first, and I can't see the harm in uninstalling both and starting over.

Yeah, that's what I was just about to do.

Did you in the end manage to fix your /stats directory again? Did you have to reinstall webalizer?

I have just installed mod_gzip and it broke my /~stats directory as well. The funny thing is though, that it works ok if I rm .htaccess in the stats directory.

Yeah, the problem ended up being that it was trying to gzip the .htaccess. There is something that you need to change in httpd.conf. You might want to contact Eagle (from this board). He fixed it for me.

I have heard that some versions of webaliser stop your php from working and that the latest ones used up a lot of server ressources because the webaliser IP database is not at its best yet, I have got webaliser 1.3 from the cobalt page, where can I get a newer version that is not going to harm my server and how do I uninstall the old version?

The uninstaller is located in: /var/lib/cobalt/uninstallers/

After that, just pop this url into your control panel:
http://cobalt-aid.sourceforge.net/files/Features/Intel/Webalizer2.pkg

Have you tested this version on a raq 4 ?
Are you sure that it's not going to harm or slow down the server,

Just another thing, how do you run the uninstaller? The 1st time I used telnet was a month ago and I'm not 100% yet even though I'm learnig fast,

I'm not *completely* sure of anything. But I know I've been running it for a month or so now, and alot of other people I've talked to are, too. No problems at all that I know of.
