View Full Version : I’m voting for <insert name> in 2004!
rooshine 07-11-2003, 03:25 PM Okay, a recent thread on making fun of George Bush drifted off into a discussion on the 2004 election (and some other issues as well). Rather than taking that thread further off topic, I thought we could give 2004 its own thread.
I know this could get controversial, and I could see the mods having to close it at some point if it breaks down into a “well your guy sucks because...” type of thread. So let’s keep it simple and civil and stay out of trouble. Just state who you’re planning on supporting and maybe a link or sentence or two.
I’ll start. It’s early, and my candidate hasn’t even thrown his hat into the ring yet. I must learn more about him, but my early support very strongly goes to Wesley Clark. One of the several "Draft Wesley Clark" sites: http://www.draftclark.com/
Tropical Tundra 07-11-2003, 03:25 PM Four more years! George W. Bush in 2004.
I’m voting for Yoda in 2004!
alapo 07-11-2003, 03:46 PM Im a democrat so...
Who's actually going to run for the Democrat party?
Artashes 07-11-2003, 04:01 PM Here is an idea. Let's bring America to communism! :D

I dont think they have decided yet. No "Big Names" (Al Gore, etc) as far as I know.

Who's actually going to run for the Democrat party? Well, so far these people have decided to run:
Howard Dean
John Edwards
John Kerry
Dennis Kucinich
Joe Lieberman
Carol Moseley-Braun
I'm not sure if these poeple "officially" announced it yet:
Al Sharpton
Tom Daschle
I'm sure there's more.
And then there's Wesley Clark. There's a strong movemement to draft him to run as the democratic nominee

Joe Lieberman is never gonna win the primary so I will vote for the dem that wins. Clark will make a great VP, same as John Edwards......

I'd settle for democracy. Can we Mr. Scalia?
Phrozen 07-11-2003, 04:32 PM Um, like wow. This will be my first chance to vote.
I'm a Democrat though, but perhaps I'll have more of an idea who I'm voting for when the time gets closer.

Is not running, however you did leave out Bob Graham and Dick Gephart, who have both declared their candidicies. Joe Biden is also contemplating a run.
My vote: Howard Dean with either Bob Graham or Wesley Clarke as VP.
blue27 07-11-2003, 05:17 PM Is there any truth to the rumor that Gary Hart will be running again?

No, he started an exploratory committee and then realized that no one remembers anything he did (except Donna Rice ;)).

Wouldn't that be considered a good thing?

Sorry, my sentence structure, while technically correct, was inadequate. What I was trying to say, in a cutsie fashion, is that the only thing people remember about Gary Hart is that he had an affair.

Understood.
The sad thing is that he was as close to a President in waiting as we will probably ever see. All he had to do was stay away from the old push push for a few more months and he was a shoe-in.

Yup :) -- though I was never really excited about him.

RackNine 07-11-2003, 07:32 PM This is going to be an interesting election. How many attacks on American soil have taken place by outside interests in the past few elections? I look forward to see the principles candidates base their campaigns on.
Take GWB's platform for example, in protecting the country his government's closed many policy making boards from the public view, attacked another country under "potentially forged" pretences, and is currently passing law which could name anyone in America a terrorist to be shipped out to Guantanamo Bay without trial or military tribunal. Now if that doesn't make you safe I don't know what does :)
Sincerely,
-Matt
Joe Bonanno 07-11-2003, 07:46 PM A voice crying out in the digital wilderness!
Joe Lieberman is the only Democrat that has my respect, and by that I mean I would vote for Bush again in a heartbeat.
Think whatever make-believe stories you want about his motives and performance, I expect the U.S. Economy to be doing great by the time 2004 rolls around. Incumbents in good economies are hard to beat.
I do expect more terrorist attacks. After all, the only thing the terrorists would like better than to see Bush out of office is the total destruction of Israel.
Scalia was right and gave one of the most important dissenting opinions in my lifetime. He, gasp, was actually holding up the Constitution, instead of playing political patsy-cake with the whims of the day.
Please flame me....I just love to be quoted!
rooshine 07-11-2003, 08:10 PM Please falme me....I just love to be quoted! There, you are quoted.
After I finished reading your post, my fingers danced across the keyboard writing a retort. But then I remembered my opening post, and I figured it's best not to keep having the same old debate about 2000.
As for 2004, I doubt the economy will be much better by then, so Bush will not have that in his favor. If the nominated democrat runs a strong campaign, Bush is very beatable.

Well done.
It is rare to find even-tempered replies in these threads. Myself included.:(
Now I will have a look at the Wesley Clark site.
Well if you could all make it easier for me and leave Bush in play, I won't have to think of new things to make fun of the next guy.... yay less work for me!
