View Full Version : addr.com how much they spent on advertising ???
neon202 07-25-2001, 07:44 PM i have seen from month they spent lots of money on advertisment. Just go through any web hosting directory or big registrars web site like nsi and others you will fine addr.com advertising pissing over there. so i was just wondering how much these guys spent on advertisment.
may me around $50,000.
PLEASE MAKE A GUESS ?????
neon202 07-25-2001, 07:46 PM ALSO GO THROUGH there web site reseller page. They did not even bother to update the date for new reseller program. it still show 02/15/2001.
Addr.com is currently in the process of beta testing its new and fully automated Reseller Program. We anticipate a formal release of the program by 02/15/2001
i have seen from years reseller prorgram dates keep updated ever month.
mkaufman 07-25-2001, 10:08 PM I couldn't begin to guess how much they spent on advertising, it's everywhere on web hosting review sites.
I would not say as much as 50k though.
sodapopinski 07-26-2001, 12:54 AM I was wondering why they can spent a lot of money while on the other hand they didn't care to update their own site??
neon202 07-26-2001, 06:37 AM wow they just had new design on there web site. I can see new design :look:
i think this time they have spent heavly on new design.
:uzi: big guy
they also changed reseller program date this time it is 08/15/2001
Addr.com is currently in the process of beta testing its new and fully automated Reseller Program. We anticipate a formal release of the program by 8/15/2001. We are currently undergoing minor redevelopment and are testing the system for security--sorry about the delay, the wait is worth it.
Jedito 07-26-2001, 07:11 AM Ohh I like their new design!!
Very very nice! Finally, their last site was horrible!
Lonny 07-26-2001, 07:36 AM it's about time...
didn't like their old design... this one looks good :)
kickster 07-27-2001, 06:40 PM addr answers your emails fast as long as you dont have an account with them. As soon as you submit the credit card the support goes bye bye.
determinist 07-27-2001, 08:08 PM Impressive design, but it doesn't makes their support any better
Christopher- 08-04-2001, 10:22 AM I think their support is quite good. You just have to know how to get to them. Call their toll free support line: 1-888-571-5660 or if you want to use e-mail, type URGENT in the subject and it get's to them instantly :) I talked with one of their support guys late one night and they said they were hiring lots of support people.
certify 08-05-2001, 02:01 PM Their new design looks excellent but their mouseover load is horrible. Support wise they are ok.

sorry, your not even in the within the ballpark.....try more than $250K per month. Theyre spending more than $50K per month just on the leading three directories.
drhonk 08-06-2001, 12:48 PM They're probably rely more on their web design revenue stream in order to spend that kind of money for advertising.
James Cross 08-06-2001, 12:55 PM They've got between 50,000 and 60,000 customers paying them between $7.95 - $14.95 per month. So with a minimum of $397,500 per month in revenue, they can afford to splash out on a bit of advertising.

WOW. How many server do they have?
James Cross 08-06-2001, 01:14 PM Not sure on their setup, but theyve got two datacenters I know of, one in San Jose and the other in Denver. Theyre also expanding into Europe and have been spending a lot of time in Germany over the past few months.

I was hosted there for free about 6 months ago and I was on server 18 but I have no idea how many more they have now.
neon202 08-06-2001, 02:58 PM wow. They have there own data centers !. i thought they are hosting with alabanza. It took them 3 days to reply my sales email. i don't know about toll free support since i haven't tried it. you can see networksolutions.com whois page, it always displays addr.com banner advertisement. They place highest bid on goto.com network. Some time it crosses $5.60 per click.
any guesses what is there cost for acquiring new customer. i think must be around $20-$30 per customer or even more.
oh man. i am trying to understand there strategies and learn something from it. They advertise more then verio or any other web hosting company on the internet.

You can easily add a 1 or even a 2 before the acquiring cost per new customer

do you mean $120-$130 or even $220-$330.
i don't think so.
Boksoft 08-07-2001, 04:00 PM Their acquiring cost per customer will absoluteley not be below $100.
berlin 08-08-2001, 02:03 AM Of course they can afford it. They keep charging you long after you've cancelled your account.

how can they charge you once you have cancelled the order. customer can always charge back.
certify 08-08-2001, 03:36 PM After reading your post i recheck my cc statement. DAMM ADDR!!! They charge me after I e-mail them to cancel my accounts 4 months ago. WTF...........
neon202 08-09-2001, 06:49 AM haven't you called them for refund or charge back them. Hmm. . so this is how companies make money. ***** also do like this.
I am getting good idea's of how this company do business. any more suggestions ?
viscid 08-09-2001, 10:00 AM Hey everyone,
I am new to the boards but wanted to chime in here.
I was with ADDR for my own site and some client sites and I regret it.
There was almost a week long period of time where some of the servers were down (about 3 of my clients sites, my site, and a friend that hosted there also plus who knows how many others). Not only did they not answer emails or the phone during this time they never even sent a notice or follow up with an explanation. If nothing else, out of professional courtesy send out something to apologize to people.
I moved all the sites I had hosted there to another. I could not trust that type of service.
GTEUK 08-10-2001, 01:52 AM I don't use addr.com but it is a well known fact it costs more to get new customers than it does to keep existing customers happy.,
Maybe someone should tell them to restructure and put the cash into support, I have seen so many bad reviews about addr.com, *****.com and fasthosts.co.uk but yet they still splash out between 100-300k a month on advertising
neon202 08-10-2001, 05:34 PM i now addr.com support sucks. i don't have any hosting expereince with them but they response to my sales emails after 3 days, so i can guess how the service should be ?
Any guesses what is drop out ratio of addr.com. ?
*****. i think we should not compare addr.com with ***** since ***** is ranked as teriable company in this forms.
I don't see any reason why they are not spending money in improving tech support.
B-Broker 08-10-2001, 05:36 PM Uhm...correct me if I'm wrong, but....
Wasn't ADDR's Visa/MasterCard merchant account suspended when they had 40,000+ credit card numbers stolen from their database!!?!?
:confused::confused::confused::confused::confused::confused:
:eek3:
certify 08-10-2001, 07:08 PM How do I make a charge back?
These idoit keep billing me....
multipleimage 08-10-2001, 07:12 PM Call your bank, they can initate the chargeback for you.
