View Full Version : Aletia Hosting
Acsiak - Andrew 07-25-2001, 04:37 PM I was wondering is AletiaHosting is any good. Someone advised me to ask about them here. So i was wondering are they any good?
Does any one have any experience with them and know whether they're good or not??
Thanks!
brav0 07-25-2001, 06:17 PM Aletia has good reviews.
Hit the "Search" button and you'll find lots of previous posts about them.
kickster 07-25-2001, 06:41 PM I have not heard too much about them but their prices are very good!
7.95/mo for 10 GB that is a good deal
Acsiak - Andrew 07-25-2001, 07:14 PM Yeah, I'll go with them. All I've heard is good comments about them, I haven't actually read any bad comments yet so I'll probably host all my sites with 'em!
Well thanks everyone!
Thanks!
creepcolony 07-25-2001, 07:36 PM they don't let you use flat file bbs though :(
he4dup 07-26-2001, 01:33 AM what do you mean by flat file bbs? like ultimate bulletin board? sorry if this is a dumb question haha
fatcatz 07-26-2001, 02:11 AM I have 5 web sites spread over 4 different web hosting companies. 2 of my web sites are with Aletia. I have had a few problems setting up a script recently but Aletia's support has been quick and helpful. I recommend Aletia! :)
First, I would totally recommend Aletia. The support is quick and friendly, both Dana and Mark have been very helpful, especially considering how new I am to running my own site.
With that said, if anyone wants to learn more about Aletia from either the staff or the clients, I recommend the new http://www.aletiaforums.com
I think it gives a great idea of what the company is like and the customers are starting to join the forum and would probably be happy to answer any questions from someone considering Aletia.
Hope this helps.
monster 07-26-2001, 07:01 AM I have used this after many many different hosts. If you look at the plans nothing can compare.
And the 24/7 AIM/ICQ support is really good for help and if you just need something to talk to. :)
kickster 07-26-2001, 09:03 AM Since most people are saying good things about them then I should add them to my data base.
I will check other boards for more review/opinion
Dogma 07-26-2001, 09:04 AM I completely agree. Aletia Hosting has great support, great prices, a new forum, and only rare downtime. They are very good!

Never a dumb question around here. ;)
Yes, UBB uses a flat file BBS, so Aletia wouldn't be suitable for you if you insisted on using UBB - switch to a database-backed BBS like vB (http://www.vbulletin.com) or phpBB (http://www.phpbb.com) instead. (vB has a very solid UBB-->vB conversion utility)
he4dup 07-26-2001, 10:14 AM cool thanks for your help
Acsiak - Andrew 07-26-2001, 02:12 PM Yeah, I really like Aletia now. I've already had all my questions answered quickly and they've been very friendly, and I haven't even yet signed up. So it seems even before signup the support is real good, unlike some other webhosts which I'm still waiting for a reply after a week.
The board thing isn't a matter really as I'll probably have my board on a different server.
But so far Aletia seems the best.
Fausty 07-27-2001, 05:57 PM Personally I had bad experiences with Alieta. Constant MySQL problems, they were unable to handle my account even though I was under my bandwidth usage. I don't know if they got any better, but I just wasn't happy with them.
Yes, Aletia is the best that I've seen.
My website run smoothly with their hosting. You can see it in action : www.diendantinhoc.com . I use vBB and have no db connection errors.
There's one thing I don't like : the forwarder e-mail cannot forward to more than 1 address.

To setup an email forwarder that goes to more than one destination, just separate the multiple destination addresses with a comma when creating the email forwarder.
If you'd like to add a new destination to an existing forwarding address, just create a new forwarder that has an identical name, specify the new destination and it will just tag on to whatever destinations you currently have for that address.
Hope this helps! :)

Thanks. The support guy on AIM did not tell me that thing :)
