I am in the process of choosing a dedicated server and becuase I have little experience I need a good Control Panel and Admin. I was thinking of going with burst.net (good or bad idea?) and notice that they offer a free NOCSOFT upgrade. Is it worth me just waiting a couple of months and getting a server with NOCSOFT already on it to save disruption? What changes are anticipated?

I also note that burst.net charge extra to have a branded CP. If you choose not to go for this option is it burst.net branded, or just plain? Is there an example of the actual Control Panels I would get if I chose the standard? Also does anyone have there own branded CP with them that I can take a look at to see how much you can change them?

We just took the plunge and got our own dedicated server with cpanel/whm.
I think, even thought that it does have alot of bugs etc that its good and the clients seem to like it. With Nocsoft and other varients (like the VDI one) their will no doubt be teething problems etc so i think that we wont be upgradeing when one is out for awhile due to the fact that there WILL be some bugs like any software and will need to be sorted.

As for comments on Burst.net i suggest you search the forum for them, as usual, their have been some horror stories and some really impressed clients and considering their customer base they must be doing something right!

I would have also thought that they will have some sort of "upgrade" between Cpanel and NOCSOFT, they would be really silly not too...
So if you did get a dedicated there should not be that much disruption invlolved.

Thanks for that. Out of interest who did you go with? And have you branded you CP or gone with the standard version? I still think the CP is a bit too complicated for most of my present clients!

for the dedicated server we went with Site5.com - very impressed with them.
Currently we simply use the standard version of the control panel, it would just take soo long to update and change, esp if nocsoft will be out shortly, hopefully they will have a template sceme!

It is something that we want to do in the future and hopefully with the new release then it should be easy enough to do.
