Anyone know if I can get a server for under $30 bucks? It doesn't have to handle many hits... Maybe 5 simultaneous users at one time. This is going to be strictly for personal reasons. I only plan on practicing with it before I get an actual dedicated server.
As far as bandwidth goes, I doubt I'll use more then 5 gigs a month. Since I will most likely just transfer some text files and messages.
Also does anyone know if you can install plesk with a internet connection with a dynamic ip? The IP really does not change very often though... Maybe once or twice a year. I tried installing it on a clean linux box and it gave me a an error... Something about the internet daemon. Perhaps it could not find it.
BTW, my ISP is Road Runner.

yeah, in $30 per month for dedicated server you may get following configuration:
* intel 8086 or 80286 computer
* 640 kB ram
* with ibm 20 MB hard drive (bigger one bigger the better) :D
* 9600 bps ethernet card
* 5 gigs badwidth (which is not possible
* VERY good tech support :cartman:
* 200% uptime (only if your server runs)
* ver stable AT&T Unix operating system
Just a personal thought. No comments ...
he he he he he he he he.
Get real man.

Hey, I've seen servers as low as $49 dollars somewhere... I doubt they have a good connection to the net and guess what 80% uptime and lower is acceptable :).
This is strictly for personal use to spruce up my webserver sys admin skills.
The five simulataneous users at one time would just be when I send 5 beta testers. Bandwidth simply is not an issue because it's all text and i'd be the only one accessing it.
However... If anyone knows if plesk works with Road Runner (cable) net connection please inform... I was successful with the apache server (installed that after plesk wasn't working) but that's really not much. I'm really trying to learn how to function cp like plesk.

Well the only thing I found at that rate are RAQs... Trust me I don't need to master one of those.
If you can point me to a sub $100 dollar linux box please feel free to do so.

or maybe anyone already tried them ?
Considering that they offer 40 gb bandwidth at $49 is really good unless it is too good to be true

Yep we've got one at www.wmgitalia.net/inglese
$25 month with no panel.
128 ram and Celeron 700
To get a panel you should add something.
Furthermore it is colo so you will have to buy it.
I hope it helps you.
