Quick question about cPanel as I am interested in getting it.

Does cPanel allow you to stay "up to date" with RedHat Errata RPMs or is this something where I would run up2date and install the updates manually?

If the latter - has anyone had any problems with cPanel crashing / getting screwed up from doing a kernel, apache etc Errata update?

What are your general thoughts about cPanel and security? Up until now I have not used a control panel and have setup and locked down each account manually and made sure to run up2date regularly. I do not want to switch to cPanel if it is not easy to keep it secure as getting rooted would waste more of my time than manually making accounts and changes for people.

TIA

If you read up on cPanel and you know Linux somewhat it is secure. Just remember that after installing cPanel you no longer have a RedHat box but a cPanel box.

You can add/update features with the scripts included in you /scripts directory. Cpanel can update it self nightly or manually if you wish.

Since cPanel makes changes to certain config files everything is not exactly as it would be on a plain RedHat box. Too many people that have problems with cPanel forgot about this.
