View Full Version : good hosting with ips
johnnyb3 07-09-2003, 08:40 PM Hey
Can someone recommed me a good cheap dedicated hosting company that doesn't have IP limits (ex. rackshack 32 ip limit) and has pretty cheap IPs?
I use rackshack now but the fact that I need to move my server every time i want a new ip drives me crazy!
neonlexx 07-09-2003, 09:16 PM What do you need so many IPs for?
frattay22 07-09-2003, 09:52 PM You can try FDC, if you are with them they give you unlimited ip with justisfication of the use. Nothig to big
neonlexx 07-09-2003, 09:58 PM He said good provider, I wouldn't recommend FDC to anyone.
wubwob 07-09-2003, 10:08 PM im guessing he wants vhosts etc.. :)
Everybody say it's free, but if you start asking FDC for 200 IPs, even with justification, I dont' think they will grant it. Same as most dedicated providers.
Romanticus 07-10-2003, 09:47 AM For what you need so many IPs??
I've heard from some peoples requests like this one, but I can't even imagine for what are they need so many IPs....
ya me too..For what you need so many IPs??
Joshua 07-10-2003, 10:42 AM Why doesn't someone actually answer his question? I know that Nocster, DedicatedNow, and most other dedicated providers do let you use unlimited IPs, as long as you pay for them (and justify them).

WebFX 07-10-2003, 10:51 AM I'm guessing he needs so many IPs because he has a lot of resellers. If a reseller has two IPs for personal nameservers, you can only fit 16 on a Rackshack server.
http://www.tranxactglobal.com don't limit how many you can have, they're not free though.
BizMarquee 07-10-2003, 11:23 AM Hosts don't normally allow IP addresses on their servers. Most hosts won't even allow the "server" to be connected to other computers due to security risks. I recommend hosting on a stand-alone PC which is not "hooked up" to any other computers, routers or switches. Setting up a "server" on the internet is foolish and is prone to hackers, viruses and diseases.
Thank you,
Randy

lmao, the title of the thread led me to want to say the same thing. But the thread makes it clear what he actually meant. :)

:D
I'd say that most companies allow you to have unlimited IP addresses, as long as you pay.

Uh oh... This isn't going to turn into unlimited hard drives and transfer, is it? There's a finite number of IPs... :D (Unless we go to IPv6... Well, it's still technically finite, but I doubt we'll run out until your toaster needs a Class A...)

My toasters only need a Class B, but I run a bread center with thousands of toasters. I just need to figure out how to plug them into the network, and then my new service is live! :D

Ok - im guessing this is a _joke_ ?
If not - well wtf are you talkin about :)
NationHosts 07-11-2003, 11:29 PM Yeah I had about 42 IP's with FDC and they stopped giving them to me when I requested, or just kinda ignored my tickets. I wouldn't recommend FDC at all. Reason I used to many IP's was because resellers, certain plans of mine allowed a number of IP's. Most of my servers (game servers) I need an IP per user for SSH or a gaming server, but most servers will only hold about 6 gaming servers before affecting performance so 6 IP's is good enough per server in that area. Try hostmania I think they allow unlimited.

wubwob 07-13-2003, 10:36 AM an IP for EACH gameserver?
Quite wasteful imo.
hostthebest 07-13-2003, 12:24 PM Try DN
