Hi everyone
I almost decided to buy CWIHosting plan, but fortunately found this board and read mostly negative comments about that company here; so i have to rethink it. My hosting needs include Java servlet support, PHP/MySQL and tech support i can rely on. (should i mention it must be affordable as well?) Well, looks like this company - http://cowena.com - has all that stuff and fair pricing too. Their faq/support area really impressed me, actually i learned some new things there...
My only concern now is that I couldn't find any unbiased reviews/opinions on cowena.com. Can anyone share his/her experience with them? or recommend me similar hosting plans maybe?
Thank you all and good luck.

Try listing your requirements in the "Web Hosting Offers and Requests" forum.
You might be surprised what good offers you may get
:D

FMB,

Have you looked at cqhost.com?

Hi jericho,
sure, I checked them as well as the rest of hosts you've mentioned before. Well, they look solid (I was scared at first when saw their entry level 75MB/10 plan  before i realiazed 10 means email addresses, not GBs.) If i understood you right, you are with CQ now? and what do you think of them? how's their support? Connection seems slow a bit from here; is it ok from your location? Thank you in advance.

2allera - it's good to hear such an opinion from hosting provider; actually i put Focalhosting in my java host list yesterday; now it gets even more hitpoints :) .

Good luck with your java biz!

FMB,

I have a client's site with cqhost. The site it is in disarray right now as they are still defining requirements. If/when it ever gets done I will send you a URL so you can see how it works. I have done a lot of jsp/servlet testing in the site and it works great. The php works well also there. I have never noticed the site being down in the last 2 months. I have never really needed to contact their support except for some basic setup questions at the very beginning. They replied quickly, within a few hours. They have a good knowledge base and faq system within their control panel that contains a lot of useful information.

hope that helps,
jericho

FMB,

Did you sign up with cowena? Their site is back up today and I was looking around in it. They don't specifically mention jsp/servlet support but all of their faqs mention that you get resin with every account. One thing that looks nice is that you get a private JVM that you can stop and start as you need. I don't have this with cqhost, I would have to request a restart through their support system. It does appear that they are with VDI which had problems a while ago, not sure if they are ok now - anybody care to comment regarding VDI?

Let me know if you sign up with them and your experiences if you don't mind.

Hmm, the private JVM is a must for my :uzi: webapp, which based entirely on a servlet... As i can predict it'll take a heavy testing.

Think I'll go with Cowena; at least to start thing up and do all checks. I plan deploy in 3 months and i'll drop you a message about my exp with them. Yes, they're little-known, but may be it's not bad after all? they look fast and underloaded (well, when they're up ;)). CQ's slower a bit from here. Beside, i did a little research on CQ and found a couple of terrible (1 point of 10) reviews like this one http://www.hostsearch.com/showcomment.asp?Companycode=31 It's last Feb, maybe they're going better now. Hope your project will go smoothly with them. Let me know when you launch it, ok?

Good luck!

PS: Sent a presale inquiry to CQ and have no reply - after 15 hours.
