Hey,

I'm in the market for a domain name and I saw the ad on one of the pages of WHT.

I visited the website, and the prices seemed alright.

I was wondering if anyone here had any experience with NameCheap.

Some Other Questions:

Is the fee a one time thing? For example i want to sign up for 2 years and the price would be 17-something. Would I pay that and have the domain for 2 years hassel free?

I would appriciate your input.

Thanks

I would rate namecheap as very reliable with great prices. I have quite a few domains with them and haven't had any problems. Their interface is very nice, you can actually get ahold of support. I have other registrars where you email a question and you never hear a thing back from them.

Yes, if you paid for 2 years, $8.88 x 2 then that's the last penny you pay until the 2 years is up. At which time you pay the same amount again.

NameCheap is known well for its good price & quality customer service support.
I, myself own multiple domain with NameCheap & i must say they are really good; hassle free.

Yes, the fee of $8.88 is a 1 year fee.
So, in your case, you just have to pay $8.88 x 2 for 2 years.
Thats all.

Hope that helps.

Yes, namecheap is very reliable and offers good and fast support. The domain manager is also improving. If you need only a few dozen domains, they are a good choice.

If you need to register client domains also, you might have a look at registerfly which lets you create sub-accounts and organize your domains in a variety of ways.

But for a few domains, I would definately go with namecheap.

You will actually get billed 23 months later with auto billing to prevent your domain from expiring. So if that is a problem make sure you have auto-renew feature off.

There are actually quite a lot of threads about NameCheap. Try do a search (http://www.webhostingtalk.com/search.php?s=) on this forum using "NameCheap" (one word) in the "Basic search" and confine your results to "Search titles only" (bottom left corner).

Registered about 200 names with Namecheap. Only good things to say about them, good prices, decent support. Stopped using them a while ago. As my business grew it was time to get an ETP account. Didn't want Namecheap to show up on my customers WHOIS lookups.

Am I right in believing that with namecheap I can point my nameservers at an independant hosting account like jv-hosting.net if I want, inclusive of the 8.88?

yes this would be true of any registrar. However I could not find an ICAAN accreditiation for namecheap. Anyone been able to verifiy their accreditation??

FYI: NameCheap is NOT an ICANN-accredited REGISTRAR. They're just a RESELLER of eNom like RegisterFly or many of our members here. Now, eNom IS an ICANN-accredited registrar.

NameCheap is very good. I have my 16 domains hosted with all. I am going to be moving all of them away to www.alldomains.com later on this year though, but that's just because I need reliability and assurance. However, namecheap is the best of the best when it comes to registrars... far better than sites than DirectNIC or GoDaddy.

I find it funny that we all use a registrar who's basically just another enom reseller.. they should go ICANN slowly, getting kinda big. hmm..
