Limited Time Co-location Special

A little more information for those not informed about Cogent:

The Cogent Webpage: http://www.cogentco.com

The Cogent Network Map: http://www.cogentco.com/Difference/network_map.html

The Cogent Quality of Service Guarantee:
http://www.cogentco.com/Difference/quality_service.html

Cogent owns over 17,400 miles of their own fiber nationwide.

I'm going to explain this a little better for everyone out there. This pricing is only available for Cogent-only bandwidth, which essentially is Above.net bandwidth. Cogent peers directly with Above.net in Atlanta, meaning most routes ride Above's network until it gets to Atlanta. Cogent also peers directly at MAE-East, MAE-West, MAE-Central, AADS, and others. The routes sometimes come through Dallas and sometimes come through several hops in Florida, which we've been assured is temporary until their network buildout is completed. In the past few days, they've rerouted things and latency dropped significantly... From an @Home cable modem my latency is now 29ms, which is significantly lower than the latency to the UUnet connection, which is usually 41ms or 55ms, depending upon network load.

We know that Cogent may not always be a viable solution, and that is why we're in discussions with Globix and Verio for additional circuits. With the special pricing below, your bandwidth will be Cogent-only, unless there is an outage. Our standard pricing will be available in a few days, and that will allow everyone to take advantage of the redundancy already in place, and the additional redundancy that is coming soon with the use of BGP-4. A circuit to UUnet is already in place for redundancy. We had a connection to Level3 in place as well, but we weren't happy with the performance, and pulled the plug on it.

We guarantee 100% network availability, something not many other providers offer. We know that it is important for your website to be online and fast 24x7, and that is why we're working on aggressive Service Level Agreements to backup our claims on paper.

We've been in business for seven years (yeah, today is the seventh year - happy birthday to us!), and have been profitable from the very first day.

If we have enough interest, we're going to bring in a Gigabit ethernet connection to Cogent. Right now, we're looking at just a 100Mbps connection (with fallback redundancy on UUnet, with more redundancy coming soon). With these prices, you will ONLY get Cogent bandwidth, unless Cogent has an outage.

1/4 Rack (10U) = $225/month
1/2 Rack (20U) = $350/month
Full Rack (40U) = $650/month

95th Percentile Bandwidth Tiers:

1Mbps = $300/mbps
5Mbps = $200/mbps
10Mbps = $100/mbps
25Mbps = $85/mbps
50Mbps = $70/mbps
100Mbps = $50/mbps

If we can get a commitment of at least 200Mbps from new customers on this promotion, we're going to dive in on the Gigabit ethernet.

You provide your own switch. A limited number of reboots are included (meaning we reserve the right to charge if we deem them to be excessive).

Labor rate: $175 per hour
$300 setup fee (may be waived based on bandwidth or space commitment level)
1 year commitment required

You can traceroute to Cogent's Atlanta router at 66.28.5.246. Most routes will use Above.net peering arrangements.
