How can I setup my raq4i server to allow a legitimate user (with a username and password) sent out email using the server?
right now I get a relaying error unless I send an email to my domain. Which does my user no good.
thanks
David
Aloha
not sure but ya might want to do some searches here on POP Before SMTP
ya can DL a patch file here (scroll Down)
http://www.cobalt.com/support/download/raq4.eng.html
should allow your user to setup a pop account and be abel to deliver mail through the server
APOP is more of a security thing and would need a client that would use APOP
also a quick not e that if you select apop the client can not use a regular pop client
(ya can dl the manuals to ;)
here is a quick quote from the raq update page
When activated, a client using a RaQ4 for a mail server will be denied outgoing email relaying until the client checks the client's incoming email first. After authentication has been established when the client checked the client's incoming mail, outgoing mail relaying is then allowed.

Thanks!
I actually did what I should have done in the first place .... searched WHT, and found the solution in less than 10 minutes ... installed the package in the next 5 mins ... and was done.
I appreciate your response to my overly hasty question!

I heard that the PoP before SMTP has a bug, it allows spam mail.
Here is a post at the Cobalt users list and a fix
