I'm bored so how do you pronounce the following:

1) Revecom: Rev-E-Com or Rev-Com
2) MySQL: My-Es-Q-El or My-Sequel
3) Linux: Lih-Nux or Li(extended i)-Nux
4) Warez: WhereZ or Whar-Ez

Feel free to post some other ones...lets see all your responses :)

Since it's supposed to evoke thoughts of E-Commerce; Rev-E-Com.

2) MySQL: My-Es-Q-El or My-Sequel

Go to the source. My-Es-Q-El. The documentation says so.

3) Linux: Lih-Nux or Li(extended i)-Nux

Again, from the horse's mouth, Linus (who pronounces his name like "Linnis") says it's Lih-Nux.

4) Warez: WhereZ or Whar-Ez

WhereZ. It's just a kewl spelling of wares, as in plural of software.

I used to call it My-Es-Q-El all the time. But everyone else pronounced it My-Sequel. I was right all along! :stickout

I prefer My-Squill :D

The look of disgust on my propeller hat friends is well worth it

I also make sure to pronouce BeOS as B-E-O-S

Just when I think they can't hate me any harder I start to talk about Charlie Brown's friend Linus, and how someone must have been crazy to name an operating system after him, when Microsoftware is so much better.

Hehe, teeth grinding yet?

2) MySQL: My-Es-Q-El or My-Sequel

My-Es-Q-El (although roommate calls it My-Sequel)

3) Linux: Lih-Nux or Li(extended i)-Nux

I had trouble saying this at first. I was trying something along the lines of:

Guh-New-Tella

But after reading more about the project, I found out they took it from that yummy chocolate so then I started saying:

New-Tella

What about "Gnome" (the GUI)? I've always pronounced it like the name of those funny little people that live under my bed (silent G), but I've heard it pronounced "G-nome" (so that the G isn't silent, obviously taken from "GNU" (G-Nu)). Any idea?

Gnome:

Always said Geh-Nome but after hearing a few people, I say G-Nome.

As for SuSE, I say Soose. I will not say it any other way :)
