a mate of mine has offered to host a 1U server for me for free. 500 - 600gigs a month transfer in California, main providers are MFN & Yipes. rackspace and bandwidth is free, as long as im not hosting alot of pay accounts, which i dont plan to do on this server. this one is more for like testing out scripts, and just basic personal hosting. a couple of pay are fine, to help pay for the cost of the server itself.

no major selling for profit, no irc. pretty much for someone looking for personal hosting, or mail server, or stuff for friends and family or a personal server.

all i need to do is get the server. the server im looking to get is a fairly high end one & is going to cost $500 or so. im looking to split the cost of this with someone.

fairly high end? What are the specs, I'm interested but I don't know of any fairly high end 1u servers for 500$

well, high end i suppose you could say is over exagerating it. but the server would be $500 or so. most likely from colomachine.com or a site of similar nature and price
