View Full Version : Problem setting up new domain on one account

Hi,

I know there's probably a simple solution to this, but for the life of me I can not figure this out. I just bought another domain name that I want to use on the same hosting account as the one I already have. So I went into my cp and set it up through "addon domain", but one thing I don't understand is it said that the domain name was setup successfully, and it also set it up as a subdomain through my main domain name, but when I went back to the home page of my cp it showed that there was one subdomain being used but it said "0" for addon domains. I know the domain I just bought is pointing to the correct dns servers and I had set that up 2 days ago. I also uploaded an index file into the new directory for the new domain name, but when I try to go to the site it says this:

"Hey, it worked !
The SSL/TLS-aware Apache webserver was
successfully installed on this website."

And it also says a bunch of other stuff, so what am I doing wrong? How do I setup the new domain name on the same account as my current one? Please help.

use park domain!

But wouldn't the parked domain name point to the same website? I want two websites, each with it's own domain name, but I want to use the same hosting account.

You probably added this twice, and it didn't remove the zone right.

Remove the parked domain, or addon domain from CPanel first, most likely it is not even listed.

I never tried this, but my staff tells me it does the same.

/scripts/killdns domain.com (your domain that didn't show up , etc)

Or simply rm -fr /var/named/domain.com.db

And try to readd it again, and it should work.

Have fun.

In my cpanel it doesn't have any addon domains listed.

I don't know what you mean by that, I don't really know a lot about domains/website hosting, so could you explain what I would need to do?

And also, I just tried to setup the domain again using Addon Domain and this is the message I got in my cpanel:

"Addon Domain Addition

The subdomain, glitterdesigns.shopforsims.com has been added.
Nameserver ips for glitterdesigns.net are: ###.###.###.##,###.###.###.##, Sorry, a DNS entry for glitterdesigns.net already exists, please delete it first

glitterdesigns.net has been setup. It can be accessed via the subdomain glitterdesigns.shopforsims.com."

So how do I delete the DNS entry? I'm so confused. :(
