Alot of you were talking about dataphorce.com recently so i thought i'd take the plunge and see how they performed over the space of four weeks.

and heres the result according to my criteria ....

1. Server speed.
Good response times without any of those stupid little timeouts that other hosts inflict on you.

2. Transfer speed.
Very good indeed. Then bad. Then good....
Transfer speed can only be termed as speradic. I know that the internet is never reliable for speeds but using a third party provider i timed it, and as i say it was speradic.

3. Reliability.
Down twice in four weeks. not that good i fear.:bawling:

4. Support.
Well. This ones really quite easy as i didn't really get any as my outbox will testify.
I got few responses and the best and most reflective was:
Yes, we'll look into it :)
Yep this is a response to an email i sent them (smile and all). Professional and curtious.
They do also have a phone number plastered all over the website, which when you ring (not cheap from the uk) is an answerphone.
Yes i left a message.
No they never got back to me.

5. Control.
Th CP will be great. When it works. Full of bugs and errors unfortunatly. Give it a month or two and it will probably be the best one arround.

6. Features & price.
Great! No setup fees for stupid stuff. Prices great. Unfortunatly half the features didn't work to well. An example of this is the ftp and ssl.
SSL comes with the account but you are never told how to access it / what the url is etc. very secureno doubt. but useless.
the ftp would just randomly not work, rejecting your passwords etc.

So..

If the support was better then the problems probably wouldn't matter so much.
in the future they have the potential to be good, very good.
But now their c**p.

I am a reseller for them for the last three months. Their support and service is excellant and I have no complaints.

Initially there was some problems with the sendmail and retrieving of emails but they fixed it now.

You can check the lastest news about their server being down in control panel. They always tell us if they have any problems. I like a Host that is honest and sincere in their dealings with their clients/resellers.

This is funny... I have been with dataphorce for a month, testing their resellers account. My honest oppinion is, that it's a cr...p. I wonder how their resellers keep their customers at all.

Literally nothing in their control panel works properly.

I tried to change MX records from khm... dataphorce.com (!!!) to something else and - guess... - I couldn't. Control panel deleted the record and refused to accept a new one. Or the old one back, for that matter.

I tried to set the name servers to my domain, which is what they ask all resellers to do. The control panels lost the settings every time I logged out (no kidding!) and than, next time, showed settings from several other resellers instead. When I tried to set the name servers again, I was issued another set of IPs...! And again and again, ad nauseaum.

There was an error in the users account, that lasted for three days. Control panel script had an arror that showed the URL dataphorce.com loud and clear in users control panel. Users, not resellers. USERS control panel.

I emailed them about all this and many other smaller issues, several times - no reply. Never. I contacted with them trough ICQ. Once. They never accepted to chat with me again. i tried calling them on the phone and got the machine. They never replied.

So...

If they ever get their act together, I might resell them. But for now... they might appear to have good prices, but in reality they are far too expencive, since the offer NO services of any value.
