Anyone here ever registered an italian domain? One of my friends is trying to point her italian domain (www.domain.it) to a recently ordered shared hosting. She says it's not possible to process the DNS changes like it's usually done, changing the primary and secondary nameservers. She needs an IP to point her domain to the server. Any suggestions?

Never had one but I would assume that you point at the servers main IP. But I guess just the IP the site is on should work.

Eh? You still need primary/secondary DNS for that. Or is Domain.it some odd hosting scheme?

To point to an IP you have to ask your host to give you an account with a dedicated IP.

You will not need a dedicated IP, a shared IP wil also work fine.

Indeed, to find the IPs of your hosting company's nameservers, go to http://www.internic.com/whois.html , fill out the nameserver details, check the Nameserver button and press Submit. You will then be presented with the IP address of that nameserver.
