View Full Version : Non-profit web-hoster
FrenchFrog 07-23-2001, 03:05 PM Hi all,
Can anyone tell me if there is any good web hosting companies that are non-profit making ? I'm French, and I only know one, that seems quite good : http://www.haisoft.net
If you know another one, can you tell me about them ? Thanks
Froggy
jolly 07-24-2001, 02:28 AM Hello,
There are lots of good hosting companies but I don't think there is any company which is non profit or NGO.
Every company keeps some profit with them.
I know lots of companies like http://www.haisoft.net
Could you tell me what are you looking for reseller plan.
:D
multipleimage 07-24-2001, 03:28 AM are you looking for a company that will host a non profit site at a discount? or do you want cheap hosting?
Jedito 07-24-2001, 04:25 AM Transfer/Hits Unlimited
Thats Scary me
FrenchFrog 07-24-2001, 06:41 AM Hi
HaiSoft desn't seem to have unlimited hits, it says 1Gb per month for the 40Mb plan. Is that enough ?
I'm looking for a reseller plan, and their doesn't look bad : 1Gb with 5Gb transfer. Is this enough (the transfer, I mean) ?
FrenchFrog
Jedito 07-24-2001, 06:59 AM This is funny :)
Because I seen a few hours ago that they offer unlimited transfer (I copy and paste here the Transfer/Hits Unlimited thing)
Anyway.. 5 GB could be enough if you plan to host low trafic sites.
JenniH 02-28-2003, 02:32 PM I thought I'd resurrect this one as I'm looking for another cheap quicky (host that is).
Any further experience on these guys? They are still there, which is good, and there are some telephone numbers on their site, which is also good. Their site is too sparse though to make any assessment on availability levels, number of customers, etc.
Anyone?
Coach 02-28-2003, 03:27 PM Well, they have setup fees which offsets some of the savings of their monthly plans. They don't offer much transfer. Their transfer overage charges are pretty high at $5 per gig.
$20 setup for subdomains.
They're based in France, so I suppose those phone numbers would be okay if you lived there. Their TOS isn't very comprehensive and leaves a lot of lot of questions unanswered.
Seems okay, but I personally would look a bit more and compare them to some other companies. Not saying not to go with them, but just look at a couple more options.
Why would you want a host that doesn't make a profit?
What would be the incentive to stay opperational?
I like that their site auto adjusts the pricing from uk, to us. I wish more sites did that.
I don't like that their site claims to have domains starting at $4.99 a year, but when you click on the link for more info, they really start at $9.99 for two years, with the com, net, and org ones being $14.99 which really isn't that great of a deal. While the price is clearified on the "more info" page, the initial wording is a bit misleading which means you will have to re-read everything you you buy from them.
I prefer a "straight up" aproach when it comes to doing business myself.
JenniH 02-28-2003, 03:39 PM Well I've just emailed them so I guess we'll see how responsive they are.
Really, the main thing is availability for me. It's not a critical site and not that important, otherwise I'd go for a more established host with a known user base. But some sites just merit a basic mega-cheap host.... as long as the site is actually up 99.5 or so.
On their .co.uk site there is a UK number by the way Coach. Not sure if it works of course.
JenniH 02-28-2003, 06:44 PM Well... 3 hours later and nothing back. I mailed sales, support and the general account with a very simple question. I have drawn certain conclusions from this and moved on.
