My school's internet connection goes down pretty often. Eli is more of a CLEC than an provider of quality dedicated hosting/collocation. IMO Matt sbrad 07-23-2001, 05:10 PM ELI owned the fiber at an isp I used to work at. Fast connection, but down quite a bit. Travis 07-23-2001, 09:00 PM Odd - I've co-located with ELI here in Boise for three years now, and their uptime record has been outstanding - well over 99.9%. Matt: are you sure it's ELI going down, and not the telco local loop or something else? sbrad 07-23-2001, 09:30 PM Odd - I've co-located with ELI here in Boise for three years now, and their uptime record has been outstanding - well over 99.9% As I *should* have stated above...no experience at all with them in this capacity. The problems mentioned above could have been for any number of reasons. ming33 02-01-2003, 09:52 AM Anyone else have anything to add? I've seen a few commenters say that ELI is bad, and slow. The ping does seem a little slow , comparative to other. Any comments on reliability and speed? Thank ya'z ming Evan001 02-02-2003, 08:43 PM ELI.net is typically pricey compared to other providers especially in their higher capacity offerings. They do have some competitive priced T-1s though. Evan mushrew 02-02-2003, 08:48 PM My very limited experience with them has been bad; several people i've seen going over Eli to RackShack within the same state of Texas seem to have horrible pings. ming33 02-03-2003, 11:04 AM Thanks guys. I noticed a lot of latency in their network as well.. Thank You. jmcmike 02-03-2003, 01:55 PM Speaking as someone who is hosted with Remarkable Hosting (thread starter), they are currently connected through Eli.net and I have had 100% network uptime since I started monitoring back in September 2002. ming33 02-04-2003, 12:06 AM 100% uptime is great...but its only part of the picture... it all depends on your needs of course, but that is good to know CoolKev 02-05-2003, 03:31 PM We currently have a point to point connection with ELI. It's been very fast, and hasn't gone down at all for the 6 months we've had it now. Speed seems about average though. brkonthru 02-05-2003, 06:48 PM I just switched to a colo that uses ELI. Too early to give feedback, but no problems so far. The ELI connection seems to have more trace hops than my older colo facility (Savvis) but it is generaly faster and has less packet loss. Ill update this forum once I have more time to truly evaluate ELI, but so far so good. |
