I bought a scanner for pretty cheap from uBid...
i would buy more if their shipping prices were cheaper!
great deals... but high shipping compensates for the great deals...

I'm not a big fan of uBid.com. They often post Teaser rates on their home page like:
"4 Way 1ghz Xeon Dell Servers starting at $7!".
Then you click into the page, there is only one server available, they charge a rediculous amount for shipping, and the price is already above what it costs on eBay or in some cases what it costs retail.
Of course YMMV, but I've been much happier with eBay, CyberPowerInc.com or my local Micro Center.
Take care,
Brian

Yes, add that to my rants above. It is so incredibly cheesy that they extend auctions. You think you have won with a last minute bid only to find out that they extended the auction 1/2 hour and someone else outbid you.
Of course as the auctioneer it makes perfect sense, but as a buyer it stinks. You never really know if you won or not until at least some time later.
Take care,
Brian

Our of EVERY etailor I have done buisness w/ CyberPowerinc.com is on the VERY BOTTOM of my list. They have the worst support I have ever seen. No communication at all.

One of the worst desktops i ever bought a couple of years ago was from cyberpower i would stay far away from them
Aloha
well like any bidding you have to watch what you are getting and know what you are getting
ubid is not the best but ya can get some deals sometimes ya can get ripped
going to get it for pennies on the dollar no
but still a savings
I got a dell app server no OS (didnt need it anyway)
a brand new one in box with all mounting hardware and slide rails
delivered to Maui which as like $80 so that was not that bad got it for $575 which I thought was a good deal for a 1u dell server 750pIII 256 megs 9 gig 160 scsi
it took me a few days of looking and puttin gin bids I know I would not go over set it forget it and all of a sudden bang
so yes I agree they can be funky but was just trying to help some who might need a big quad or 8 cpu data server would make a super cool SQL box
hehehe
later ;)

This would annoy me enough to never use the auction system. Seems to pretty much kill the whole point of a timed auction if you ask me (which you didn't). :D

I've gotten a great deal on a dell server before through ubid and the product was brand new. Now if the stupid post office could quit loosing my expensive hardware

I do not see why people dont bid on items tell the last minute. It would make sence then everyone gets a low price on the system. They did not give agood explination on the max bid. What is the point of it? Seems that they would make more money not doing it.
However, if there are any bids within 10 minutes of the close of the auction (the "Going, Going, Gone!" period), it will be extended until there are no bids for 10 continuous minutes.
^^^
That is really bs in my opinion.

not a bad deal
