Has anyone had any past experience with hostiva? Good or bad?
They seem to fit my needs best, and I was just wondering if they were reliable.
Hostiva doesn't have a past...
Look in the advertising forum - they're just starting. It doesn't mean anything good or bad about them, just you won't find people with any real experience with them.

I'm wary of bargains, but still can't resist them ... so 2 days ago I signed up for an account and I sent an email requesting the reseller option. I received a prompt reply indicating "will be set up in about 8 hours," and the account was set up exactly when promised.
I uploaded a bunch of files and noticed that access seemed very slow, which I confirmed using tracert. The slow speed is obviously NOT Hostiva's fault, since I get the same lousy results when I do a tracert directly to burst.net, which is Hostiva's NOC.
Posted a ticket through the help desk, and I received a response which basically said "nothing we can do about the network speed, but here's (http://www.tracert.com/cgi-bin/trace.pl) a link where you can check response times from various locations." Very helpful link, I might add; it shows that response times are very quick from almost everywhere except my own computer.
To my uneducated eyes, the delay I'm experiencing seems to be on the Sprintlink or Burstnet side of things, and my ISP confirmed that the trouble is outside their network. So, what do you all think? Should Hostiva and/or Burst.net be responsible for doing something about the network speed? If not, where should I report the problem? I'm attaching a portion of today's tracert results to burst.net. Thanks. :)

Dolphyn: Could you send a copy of that traceroute to sean@burst.net
We haven't had any complaints about the speed of our NOC until you posted this, so I am curious as to where the problem lies...send that trace my way so we can call and harrass some people :-)
Maybe things will get faster for you when the AT&T DS3 is installed in about 7-10 days.
Regardless, things shouldn't be slow at all for you right now...we have plenty of spare bandwidth, especially if you are uploading...for we are only using approx 7-8% of our downstream bandwidth.

I meant to attach the tracert, but I forgot.
My provider IS att@home, but they told me the problem is outside their network ... so who knows. I don't claim to understand this stuff.

Back to Hostiva I just transferred a small account to them a month ago.
Too soon to really tell. But, I have absolutely no complaints :agree:

Problem is on Sprint backbone...between hops 7-8 you show there in yout traceroute...4 hops before our router.
We'll forward that along to them and find out what is up.
If you are on ATT@home...things will get better fo you soon, because we have DS3 from AT&T coming very very soon.

BurstNet : This forum is not a support area for your company. Please conduct and answer support requests on your boards or email. Thanks.
HighSky : Give Hostiva a few more hours to answer your email. 12hrs is a good turn around time.
