View Full Version : I've outgrown my current host - where to next?

I originally posted this in the General Webhosting Forum, but I believe this would also be a good place to post it...

I'm using a small company called WebStrike (http://www.webstrikesolutions.com) to host my website, and they've done an excellent job. Most impressive, my site has grown by leaps and bounds on their servers, and they haven't even blinked in speed, reliability, or space. But, I think I have reached my limit, and their hosting plan (using extra bandwidth) is just too costly for me to continue using them much longer.

So, getting to the point...

My biggest need (at the moment) is bandwidth. Right now, in one day, I get around 3,000 unique visitors which easily suck up at least 700 MB of traffic. After figuring it out, I need a host with somewhere around 30 GB of bandwidth a month - which is incredibly hard to find! (I've even been turned away.) Also, I'd like much more webspace than what I've got now (50 MB), preferably 500+ MB, but less would be OK. My site's forum is gradually eating up space every day, so I want to be prepared for any future growth. And, of course, I want all this at the lowest possible price.

I've looked all around at hostsearch.com and hostindex.com, but I can't really come up with much more than small re-selling companies that make me wonder about the quality of their service. I know I'm going with a very small host right now, but I feel that I've found a diamond in the rough, judging by what I have heard so many others say.

So, does anyone have any good ideas (or offers :)) on where to place the future home of GTPlanet?

Hey Lancia

Basically you are looking for 500+ MB web spaces, 30 gigs of data transfer ?

Can you post your email, so I could offer you a customed package. Thanks...:)

Hello Lancia,

With that amount of bandwidth and space, I really don't think you will be able to find a reliable, fast host for under $50 / month.

If your budget is around $50, then you can email us (or reply to the thread) and we'd be happy to setup a custom hosting plan for you.

Good luck with your site. :)

hey lancia, i get about 3,000 uniques a day, but i only use about 350mb a day bandwidth? how? i'm mad cheap :D this is how i saved bandwidth:

i put ALL my images on my isp's (aol) webspace :D
i store ALL my files on a person's cable server :D
i begged for a host to host my forum for free :D

i used to use about 700mb like you, but with cheapness, i cut that in half! :D
