I own a 1-888 number but currently have it redirecting. I am getting a seperate phone line soon and was wondering how to get those submenus like for example "For tech support press 1, for billing press 2". How would I set something like that up? I heard that you use a special box similar to an answering machine and program the options in or something, any information would be helpful thanks.

I believe that is called a multi-mailbox, Verizon offers it for $10.50 a month, my 1-800 number forwards to that messaging system, and you can set it to press 1 for Sales 2 for support and so forth.

If you are looking to route live calls so that you can answer the phone without sending them to voice mail you would need and IVR (Interactive Voice Response) System. For a decent one that you own they can get pretty expensive.

Alternativly angel.com offers these for around $120.00/mo.

If you are just looking to forward them to a mailbox than most local phone comanies can provide you with this option for relatively cheap prices.

I got a VoicePro on ebay pretty cheap. The company went out of business and they are not made anymore but there is a decent community of users out there and people are still writing software for them. Can probably get one for less then $200.

Not really true and IVR recongizes speach from the callers phone. only if you wanted the person to say sales and go to sales or support and go to support would you need an ivr.

What you need is a "PBX, or Virtual route terminal"

these things take prompts

True, in my post I forgot the PBX acronym so I ommited the differences. Most IVR's will allow you to ..."Press 1 for"..."press two for"... also.

I hear they are fairly good. I was looking into it awhile back.

I couldnt find it in the Account Management page just right now after i read what you said. Is it an optional extra feature?
