I'm about to buy a dedicated server, and the host will allow me to choose what version of red hat. However i havn't the foggiest idea as to which is the best version out at this momment.

So i'm wondering what everyone's opinions are versions of Red Hat to run. I've narrowed it down to 7.3, 8, and 9. Also please keep in mind that cpanel will be running on this enviroment...so i am looking for the most stable and compatible with cpanel 6.

I know that freebsd and debian are a lot more stable but i'm a big fan of Cpanel and so am sticking with RH

Thanks for any input or advice

looking at the install docs for cpanel i saw this

1-1 Install Requirements.

RedHat Linux 6.2 (SERVER INSTALL) or newer (RedHat 7.0 is not supported due to compiler bugs)

is this still an issue with 7.3 or has it been fixed?

Those docs are very old. I have good experiences with cpanel and rh 8 and rh 7.3, can't go wrong with either of those.

RH7.3 works best IMHO.
