Hello, I have relay my experiences with this hosting company.

I have been with them for about 2 years with a server2 account (shared with multiple domains).

I recently got a dedicated server so cancelled my account and domains (they charged for each domain hosted on account) hosted with them, they said I was contracted for 6 months and the contrat was until October and I would have to pay for this period.

When I first signed up this was not mentioned, though is tucked away on their web site.

I complained but they said tough.

I then noticed that the domains hosted on account were still on my account, so once again deleted them.

Yesterday while checking my banking account I noticed that they had taken £220 pounds out via my Visa debt card, I checked the on-line billing section for my aitcom account and found they had charged me for the remaining period of contract including domains removed from account.

I emailed them to complain about their sharp practices and lack of notification of advanced payments.

The replied that it is all in the agreements, and accelerated payments for cancelled accounts were the norm.

Again this was not made clear when I signed up, the account was sold as being monthly payments.

My advice to to avoid them.

Carpman,

Report them to the FTC and the BBB. The more people that do this the better.

Aitcom still continues to promote "Monthly Fee - With AIT's shared hosting solutions you pay month-to-month because we are confident that our sustained commitment to value, service, performance and reliability will earn and keep your business each and every month." under the heading "Monthly Fee."

I don't know about you, but that certainly had me believing that it was a monthly contract.

This is also debatable "No Hidden Fees - We put everything on the table. There is no fine print."

Their 99.9% Uptime "99.9% Network Uptime - State of the art facilities and equipment in our own 24/7 Network Operations Center (NOC) keeps you up and running. Our systems are fully redundant and staffed around the clock. UPS and generator back up ensure your site stays up." doesn't actually have to be honored since it's not in the Agreement. Right.

Good Luck.

hmm, id state to your bank that it is an unauthorised transaction - they will initiate a chargeback on your account.

I contacted Barclaycard after a bad experience with ***** and they carried out a chargeback for me, luckily for ***** they gave me the money fairly quickly once i told them VISA - Barclaycard would soon be chasing them for the money instead of me :) bwahahahaha

FTC = Federal Trade Comission. You can use their online complaint form or contact FTC Sotheast office (AIT registered at Fayetteville, NC) http://www.ftc.gov/ro/southeast.htm

BBB online complaint form: http://www.bbb.org/bbbcomplaints/Welcome.asp
Same rule - locate their regional North Carolina office if you want to file complaint directly.

Deb, you are sooo cruel! :D

Actually I'd highly recommend very helpful Deb's article on how to deal with unfair hosting to everyone who's in trouble.
