I'm sat there with some Brazilian stuff on my homepage. How long do I have to sit here and wait for this to be sorted

I get a call from a client at 7.30am on a saturday morning to tell me this. Not Happy at all.

It's PsychoPhobia again. They hacked someone else's company the other week.

tsk, tsk, tsk. Security should be your #1 primary concern.

I think CreateSpace uses Linux 2.4-kernel

I don't know what time it is with you US guys, but it's 11.00am here. When I saw this at 7.30am I knew there was nothing I could do. I could nearly cry, so I just went back to bed and woke up again. Still there.

I can't replace the index file if that is it because ftp is down for all the websites. Oh...and the livid customers have started emailing me. Great, and I wanted to have my Saturday off :(

well my ftp works a charm, use ftp.combatsims.com, ftp.deadlygamers.com, ftp.intothematrix.co.uk, ftp.pebspace.com, keep trying diffrent domains hosted on createspace server i am sure you will find one that works :)

I was hoping this was something that could be fixed without the customer noticing. Now that means I'm going to get it in the neck from every single one

So what's everybody's advice? I send out an email telling everyone to change index.php, since I can't get ftp access to a lot of the sites.

And as a side note it gets better. EVERY SINGLE PAGE has been replaced with that crap. This just gets better and better

The only advice i can give is really to get away from CreateSpace and thats what i am doing, i just can't bear this anymore, being left in the dark, taking so long to reply to emails, having unsecure apache unstable MySQL, etc :(

Just had one snotty email saying "what are you going to do about this? I haven't got a backup for the current version?". Well what can I do? I have to wait for Createspace to wake up. I was supposed to be going to the beach today. Ah well.

Tell your customers the truth. Tell them that the server got hacked and you will get it fixed ASAP. It sucks yes but you have to deal with it as it is part of the business. If they have just defaced the index page you or your customers should be able to reconstruct it once your host gets it in gear and patches whatever needs to be patched.

A little advise, don't try and fix anything until the host has patched anything because you will be waking up the next day with the same problem. If you can't get the host on the line, change hosts.

My 2 cents

Customers always turn snotty when something is wrong. It's a rule of the thumb.

Really, put yourself in their shoes.
