View Full Version : squirrelmail
LoCache 06-27-2003, 07:06 PM I am trying to decide to host my website with a webhost that uses cpanel or one that uses ensim.
I like squirrelmail alot and I think it is only offered pre-installed with ensim.
Am I wrong?
Is ensim really that bad for light volume reselling?
hostpc.com 06-27-2003, 07:27 PM Ensim, if managed correctly is an EXCELLENT, SECURE software system that can effectively manage your clients.
Most Ensim hosts have Ensim secured very well, as there's a wide support base. My opinion, based on security, would be Ensim...
One suggestion tho.... v1.2.5 of Squirrelmail that ships with most Ensim packages, is very limiting - search for a host with an upgraded squirrelmail package, preferably installed serverwide so it doesn't come out of the clients quotas. If they don't have it, ask if you can install it yourself (may require SSH access) ... 1.4.0 is designed very well!

Ensim is much much better, cpanel is extremely insecure, and just.. horable.
you can however request that your host install squirrelmail, or you can install it yourself.
GoldenTiger 06-27-2003, 09:39 PM Cpanel isn't insecure, and can have squirrelmail installed by the server admin. Just make sure the host has it, first. Cpanel is just as secure as ensim... security depends on the server admin, not the control panel. Cpanel has many more features on the user end than ensim, as well.
maxhest 06-28-2003, 04:53 PM Mmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm Squirrelmail, Great web based e-mail, and ensim you just can't beat.. I really dislike cPanel.. To Buggy
rafiki55 06-28-2003, 08:41 PM sq. mail can be installed anywhere...my host uses cpanel and they have sq. mail as well.

Exactly.
MGCJerry 06-28-2003, 11:01 PM I have installed squirrelmail on my server myself. It's a pretty simple install.
NexDog 06-28-2003, 11:39 PM We custom install SquirrelMail on all our Plesk servers because it's so good.
coight 06-28-2003, 11:40 PM Same here Laurence :) (Except we do it on cpanel)
NexDog 06-29-2003, 12:21 AM Wow, you have 3 webmail systems then? Horde, Neo and Squirrel? That just won't do at all.....
