Dear forum please help,
rate this Ping session in scale from 1 to 10

reply from xxx.xx.xxx.xx bytes=32 time=337ms TTL=234
reply from xxx.xx.xxx.xx bytes=32 time=407ms TTL=234
reply from xxx.xx.xxx.xx bytes=32 time=310ms TTL=234
reply from xxx.xx.xxx.xx bytes=32 time=398ms TTL=234

and then in four minutes again

reply from xxx.xx.xxx.xx bytes=32 time=333ms TTL=234
reply from xxx.xx.xxx.xx bytes=32 time=426ms TTL=234
reply from xxx.xx.xxx.xx bytes=32 time=309ms TTL=234
reply from xxx.xx.xxx.xx bytes=32 time=421ms TTL=234

and then in 30 seconds again

reply from xxx.xx.xxx.xx bytes=32 time=467ms TTL=234
reply from xxx.xx.xxx.xx bytes=32 time=325ms TTL=234
reply from xxx.xx.xxx.xx bytes=32 time=379ms TTL=234

It would help if you could tell us how far the ping is going. it is overseas??
server to server
OR
cable modem to server...
OR
Dialup to server etc....

a trace route would be better.

btw, that is terrible for inside the USA, and pretty bad for overseas also.

Might be slightly ok if it's both dialup and overseas.. But other than that special circumstance, that's a bad ping time.

A traceroute woudl be far more relavent. For all we know you're on dialup pinging a host on peer1 bandwidth, and 350ms of that is your first hop to your own isp.

It would be useful just to tell us what connection you are on too. Who are you pinging?
