What do most host use single or dual? = Thinking godthemod 06-27-2003, 05:04 PM I'm hosted on Dual Xeons with HT, for 4 virtual processors :) ANMMark 06-27-2003, 05:20 PM Dell Poweredge, Dual 2.4ghz xeon (hyperthreading) nickn 06-27-2003, 05:25 PM I don't think there is a clear answer on what processor most hosts use, but I would think most probably don't use dual xeons.. And to answer the actual question, dual xeon 2.8ghz (with hyperthreading of course, although that goes without needing to be said.) I'd be interested in seeing the results of this poll though if it gets some decent feedback... okihost 06-27-2003, 05:40 PM Four singles and two duals. intricate 06-27-2003, 05:41 PM A few single and a few duals! ;) Pilgrim 06-27-2003, 05:45 PM All single. For the most recent server purchase I've been looking closely at the RS dual Xeon. Would have loved to get me one of those. Did some calculations however and sadly it turned out that the P4 2.0 was more economic for me now. *sigh* maybe next time ;) Jim_UK 06-27-2003, 05:59 PM For someone looking for hosting it shouldn't really matter whether the server is single or dual CPU. What matters is whether it's overloaded or not... remember, it's possible to overload even the most powerful of dual Xeon's too :) ANMMark 06-27-2003, 06:01 PM indeed. RobTheGolfer 06-27-2003, 06:22 PM 3 Duals and 5 Singles J Miller 06-28-2003, 09:36 AM Most host use single CPU because its cheaper! Go with what you need a! :) TThomas 06-28-2003, 10:20 AM Overloading the key I think. Would rather run on a P 4 2.0 with 40 sites then a Dual Pentium with 300-400 sites... Tim |
