creepcolony 07-20-2001, 07:04 PM i don't get it
does unmonitored bandwidth mean you don't check how much bandwidth i use so you have noooooo idea?
Michael-MS 07-20-2001, 07:31 PM Maybe they don't have time to check their customers bandwidth  Of course, when their network provider (reseller, dedicated or whatever) tells them they're over their bandwidth per month, they'll find the time then. :D
TechnoHosts 07-20-2001, 07:42 PM theyre on RAQ4i from rackshack which comes with 150 gigs bandwidth. What if they get 150 customers all wanting unlimited bandwidth. They'll have to cut the line at 1 gig
lol
inoverse 07-20-2001, 07:52 PM Well, actually we'll soon have 200 GB from RackShack. We currently have 48 clients, and don't use over 3 GB per month, so I think we'll be ok on bandwidth. I don't want to say "unlimited" bandwidth because there is no such thing as unlimited, so I say unomonitored because if you start getting around say 50 GB/Month we will have to put a limit on it.
Ihoppoet 07-20-2001, 08:01 PM so your offering 50 gig a month of bandwidth for 36 bucks a year?
Thank you

Why not put up the limit now?
Also, your company is less than a month old (correct me if I'm wrong). So, how can you calculate the amount of bandwith per month already? And I'm sure the majority of the 48 clients that you have, don't even have their sites setup and advertised yet.
What happens when they do? More bandwidth... :(

I can understnad your point of paypal only, but what is wrong with a company providing alternate ways for its customers to pay?
(SH)Saeed 07-21-2001, 05:59 AM We reserve the right to remove any account without advanced notice for any reason without restitution as Inoverse Web-Hosting sees fit.
So you're basicly saying that you can delete any account at any time for any reason without even letting the customer know about it!? Even the customers that are following your TOS?
Also, I don't see anything about the "unmetered" bandwidth in the TOS. Wouldn't that mean that if I signed up today and agreed to the current TOS, I could use 10 TB of bandwidth without they being able to do anything. Well, at least if they didn't have the quote above in their TOS.

well. i do take that back. as long as they arnt pushing it as the main way to pay i am okay with it.
multipleimage 07-21-2001, 06:22 AM I just had a very very bad experince w/ paypal. i have mentioned this in other posts so i wont go into it now. i just sorta cringe when i see there name.
Randy 07-21-2001, 07:38 AM unmonitored, unmetered, or unlimited... I personally wouldn't go near a company that doesn't clearly state the exact limit of bandwidth and disk space(although disk space is easier to come by).

Personally, I completely agree with you. :)
The problem is that webmasters with small sites aren't familiar with data transfer and basically have no idea whether a limit of 2 GB or 20 GB is what they need. So they tend to lean towards bandwidth limits such as the ones you mentioned in your post.
Also, there's not going to be anyone to argue from this point of view because even though the majority of webmasters are like this, none of them probably even know about webhostingtalk.com or have the time to post here. :(
On this message board, you're dealing with webmasters who know what they're doing... but this is definitely a small percentage of the total population.
creepcolony 07-21-2001, 05:41 PM yay i'm special!
my favorite barney song:
you are special
you're the only one
you're the only one like you
there isn't another in the whole wide world
who can do the things you do,
oh you are special!
special!
everyone is special!
