Hi,

I'm in the progress of moving from a virtual host to dedicated or co-location. Co-location looks fun-- it's your server and you can do whatever you want with it. Anyways, I'm looking for a server that will run well for php/mysql database processing. My site is not that big, but big enough that it does too much cgi processing.

I'm looking for a server in the economy range up to $1000. Please tell me of any good sites that have good prices on servers and hot deals on servers.

I heard about one from VA Linux for $835. I also so another VA Linux from pcbargainsource for $699. good deals?

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

...until a hard drive fails and you need someone to help you for $ and so on. And do you have enough experience to handle administration all alone?

I have 2 colos on 2 different networks.

One is from penguincomputing and I have been very happy with it. www.penguincomputing.com

The other, I made myself and sent to another network (www.globaltap.com) and the network administrator went ahead and loaded the OS and all the other stuff on it and added it to the network.

The good part about the 2nd one is that they are inexpensive and also available if I run into any problems. They will go in hands on and fix it and they are very reasonable. Most colos do not get administrative help like that. You don't have to make yourself either, they will put it together for you. I just wanted to make it myself.

Search ebay. You will get some good deals there.
