I met these guys at the Linux show in Birmingham and wondered if anyone has tried them. They offer Linux hosts for -L-15 per month using User-mode Linux as a virtualisation technology, and were pretty friendly. So you get root access, can compile your own software, configure your own mail server, apache, Java servlets, PHP etc. which is ideal for some of the stuff I'd like a co-located server for but it's quite a lot cheaper. I'd not heard of User-mode Linux used like this but it seems to work and be nice and cheap. They also do telephone support and stuff which seems a bit more generous than most hosts who want to give you email tickets for everything!

Anyhow I'm setting up a server for a new client wanting a custom web site & email setup. Seems impressive so far, but if anyone else has tried 'em let me know here.

Peter.

UML is pretty cool - there are some problems with it - but with a good host its generally very good idea! Ide say go for it - its relatively cheap - the guys are debian guru gods - so they know what they are doing!

I'm not much into the market. From their site, they seem to know what they're doing. This is important because the VM hosting and market are relativly new and I've noticed lots of mis-conceptions and inaccurate information in many websites, but not this one.

If I wanted a VM hosting service, it would definitly be from them.
I should actually thank you for the link :)

NOTE: I'm a biased Debian fan.

you may want to check out the second page of this thread: http://www.webhostingtalk.com/showthread.php?s=&threadid=156875 for reasons not to use UML-based vps.

I'm using them for about a week -- so far so good.
