carpman 07-20-2001, 06:05 AM This one seems to be doong the rounds, have had reports of from other people.
allan 07-20-2001, 01:40 PM I got it as well....it's a nice little worm...of course I use Pine, so it would not have affected me :).
Eagle 07-20-2001, 01:46 PM You know....This happens a lot so they can just steal credit card numbers :(
bah
MattF 07-20-2001, 01:49 PM Hmm I doubt it... Whats probably happening is that the user has be infected and is not aware. The virus is autoresponding to all e-mails received and any e-mail addresses in the user's contact list.
Eagle 07-20-2001, 01:51 PM Well I'm not aware of what THIS virus does,
but I do know that they tried to do that to me several times...
Not itsyourdomain.com
just some wacko... Dont know who

Melissa create a whole new field of viruses... that seems to have extremely high infection rates...
btw, although I don't know personally... Ted (from itsyourdomain) was probably infected with it... i sent him an email with some links to disinfect his computer... hopefully, he sent everyone in his address book about the virus and not to open the attached file.
be careful what you get in your mailbox... it may be lethal to your computer :)
* alpha is installing Norton NAV 2001 for Win2k
alpha 07-20-2001, 02:20 PM hehe, here's something better...
http://www.pandasoftware.com/library/pqremove.com
panda antivirus people released a free executable file that will disinfect Sircam from your computer if you happen to not have any antivirus programming running...
Chicken 07-20-2001, 08:07 PM I got the email too, emailed Ted to let him know he has a worm already, but I'm sure others already notified him.
Actually I have got some similar e-mails from other address as well. But not to this email address.
Bogdan 07-21-2001, 12:02 PM I got that e-mail too.
Shawn (GEcom) 07-21-2001, 12:16 PM Me 2, but not from that address...

JustinK 07-21-2001, 12:42 PM Just got that today (couple minutes ago). it was celebjeopardy.zip.pif
Virii suck. :(
akashik 07-21-2001, 02:32 PM all good example of why you NEVER turn off your email virus checker. :). Regular updates and regular scans.
Hell, I check for virus updates more often than I defrag or empty my recycle bin

TheComputerGuy 07-22-2001, 09:36 PM I am not infected....YAYY YAYAYAYAYA YAYAYAYAYAY
CELEBRATE GOOD TIMES...come on
:BEERS:
Webdude 07-22-2001, 11:37 PM Isnt ozemail.com.au web based? I got the same thing from one of their users today..
file: change.doc.ink
qslack 07-22-2001, 11:58 PM I've gotten several, but I didn't open the attachments. I was thinking of notifying the people who sent me sircam but I decided they are having enough trouble anyways. :)
Most of these virii wouldn't spread if people didn't open unknown attachments!
eva2000 07-23-2001, 12:43 AM i normally receive on average 550+ emails/day and today got 100+ worm virus emails

Sounds like it's that time of the month again. I wonder where this one came from. Maybe another walking eggplant playing with programs they shouldn't like that guy who kicked off the whole AnnaK virus threat
I had an odd email from someone to a domain I picked up recently. It ended in .doc.bat - needless to see it saw the bottom on my trashcan as quick as looking at it.

eva2000 07-23-2001, 05:59 AM yeah i'm using Eudora but it's filter only has option to move to trash can rather than in OE where you can choose to remove it from the server itself
anyone know if Eudora has that function?
