Hmm I doubt it... Whats probably happening is that the user has be infected and is not aware. The virus is autoresponding to all e-mails received and any e-mail addresses in the user's contact list.

Melissa create a whole new field of viruses... that seems to have extremely high infection rates...

btw, although I don't know personally... Ted (from itsyourdomain) was probably infected with it... i sent him an email with some links to disinfect his computer... hopefully, he sent everyone in his address book about the virus and not to open the attached file.

be careful what you get in your mailbox... it may be lethal to your computer :)

* alpha is installing Norton NAV 2001 for Win2k

I got the email too, emailed Ted to let him know he has a worm already, but I'm sure others already notified him.

all good example of why you NEVER turn off your email virus checker. :). Regular updates and regular scans.

Hell, I check for virus updates more often than I defrag or empty my recycle bin

I've gotten several, but I didn't open the attachments. I was thinking of notifying the people who sent me sircam but I decided they are having enough trouble anyways. :)

Most of these virii wouldn't spread if people didn't open unknown attachments!

Sounds like it's that time of the month again. I wonder where this one came from. Maybe another walking eggplant playing with programs they shouldn't like that guy who kicked off the whole AnnaK virus threat

I had an odd email from someone to a domain I picked up recently. It ended in .doc.bat - needless to see it saw the bottom on my trashcan as quick as looking at it.

yeah i'm using Eudora but it's filter only has option to move to trash can rather than in OE where you can choose to remove it from the server itself

anyone know if Eudora has that function?
