View Full Version : Dedicated Host Security Setup...

Im interested in purchasing a dedicated host from one of the many discount providers (serverbeach, rackshack, etc.) but know little of the setup process. The sites that I will be running off the server are political in nature, so there is a hack-risk, so I would be interested in having a third party help not only with traditional server set up, but with security issues as well.

Would anyone be interested in giving me a breakdown of expected costs, perhaps by item showing different levels of security and how much each would be cost...

Thanks so much.

Hi-

My name is Stephen Corona and I have been working with linux for almost 6 years now. I have over 3 years in Server Administration. I have used Ensim, WHM/cPanel, and DSM Control panels extensively but I can also manage plain redhat boxes.

For $75 I can apply ALL security patches to your server, upgrade your kernel, install a firewall, SNORT, mrtg and hotsanic (for monitering graphs, upgrade your control panel, and upgrade all software packages.

For $50/Month extra I can log into your box once per week and make any additional security/software/kernel updates. I will also be avaliable for emergency fixes/maintanence if needed (you get my cell phone number for emergency situations)

For $100/Month I do the same as above but do daily checks and monitor your services (httpd, mysql, pop, pgsql, etc.) and make sure they do not freeze or go down. This helps to increase your uptime and how accessable your website will be.
