sbrad 07-20-2001, 02:34 AM Are you a reseller? If so, does whoever you resell for monitor their bandwidth?
hitspot 07-20-2001, 02:33 PM From our usage policy:
Traffic Guidelines
HitSpot.net is happy to offer users unmetered bandwith/traffic, within the limits of shared server capacity. If resource demand from any individual site demands
more than our servers can deliver, we will offer the owner a service upgrade (such as dedicated servers).
hitspot 07-20-2001, 02:41 PM Nope, not a reseller. We run our own dedicated servers.
Ihoppoet 07-20-2001, 03:26 PM that doesnt answer what the limits are, we are still blind, I would like a number, is it 10 gigs a month, or is it 200 gigs a month, I guess I'm a bit of a control freak but I like to know from month to month if im in trouble.
thank you

hitspot 07-20-2001, 04:16 PM You would be safely hosted at between 10GB with cgi use, above that we would have to negotiate a better solution. (such as a full or shared dedicated server).

Hitspot-
I think what ihoppoet is trying to say is that it makes no sense to go into a business agreement with so many unknowns. What if you weren't able to negotiate a better solution, as you say would be necessary?
Would you buy a new car with a big blank spot where the interest figure should be?
I'm not trying to bash your service. I stay away from these threads, because I have my own web hosting business and don't want to appear to be biased. However, I think you're going to find that if you close up these holes, and stop making claims like "Unmetered Traffic" there are going to be less questions, which ultimately will lead to more customers.:)
Ihoppoet 07-20-2001, 04:57 PM negotiate a better solution? well here is the solution, I paid for unlimited BW, and thats what I will get, or I will see you go out of buisness.
\either unlimited is unlimited or its not, if you offer it, and its not you are a fraud.
CALL TO ARMS!!!!!
when ever someone adds for unlimited simple post a reply with one word, "fraud"
Maybe then they will stop, and we will only be left with real offers to deside from.
Unless this is a violation of the rules, then don't do it lol
thank you

btw 10 gigs? I can find a real host that offers 10 gigs for less that 6 a month. 10 gigs isn't much
:homer: is getting cranky, I need my pepsi
hitspot 07-20-2001, 05:01 PM  I understand what you are saying. I have been considering clearly stating a bandwith range, and your arguements further push me in that direction.

hitspot 07-20-2001, 05:06 PM I real host that offers more than 10gigs at under $6 will not be in business long.
Michael-MS 07-20-2001, 07:56 PM When they're only offering 25 MBs of space, I really don't think they will have a problem with bandwidth "abuse" for the majority of their users...
Maybe this is why they didn't bother coming up with a bandwidth limit? I would actually suggest using the term "unmonitored bandwidth" in this case.
For example, Master Sites runs a free hosting service and we don't even check to see what the bandwidth usage is per site. As long as we stay under the allotted bandwidth for that server, it really doesn't matter.
Basically, my point is that with small space, bandwidth really is not an issue...
