thx for all the help guys now ive obtained hosting thru
ecommercediscovery.com and a domain name thru go daddy. now my question is nameservers. do i need to register these two because the secondary one works already. now if i do need to register them what is the 'host name' portion i need to enter. is it ecommercediscovery i enter before my domain name or what?
thx,
Greg

Unless you are running your own nameservers, your host should provide you with the nameserver information you need.
And yes, you should have at least 2 nameservers.
In fact, we run nameservers on different networks to insure optimum availability of sites during any kind of outage.

Hi,
I think this is what you'll need to have the domain pointed to your host. :)
http://ecommercediscovery.com/hostfaq/hostfaq.html
If you need to provide Name Server details for your chosen NIC, then use the following, BUT LET US KNOW SO WE CAN SET UP OUR SYSTEM. Many domain registrar's and NIC's will require that your details are in our database before the domain can become live.
EcommerceDiscovery - CURRENT Name Servers
PRIMARY
Â
ns.ecommercediscovery.com
216.139.227.190
SECONDARY
Â
ns2.ecommercediscovery.com
216.139.227.191

sorry to keep bugging you but anyway i went to godaddy and clicked the register a nameserver link(there is no other place to enter an IP adress) entered in the host name and the IP. then i went to manage domain and changed my nameservers to ns1 and ns2.
is this correct?
thanx,
Greg

NO!
Log into your GoDaddy account:
Click "Modify DNS Information"
Enter like they told you above:D
I think you've probably been trying to "Register a Name Server"
When you need to "Modify DNS Information"

You don't need to.
Just enter the nameserver info. (NS1.ECOMMERCEDISCOVERY.COM and NS2.ECOMMERCEDISCOVERY.COM ) while you're in "Modify DNS Info"
GoDaddy knows the ip
