Hello,

Yesterday I was looking for a good web hosting provider to host my friend's business web site, and I discovered bluedomino.com. After reading their feature list (http://www.bluedomino.com/features.shtml) I was very impressed so I signed up for one year.

And then today I discovered this great site and read some of the messages on bluedomino.com and unlimited services in general. Now I regret ever signing up with bluedomino. :(

Does anyone know whether I can get a complete refund from them? As part of signing up with them, I also got a free domain name registered. If I get a refund, what's going to happen to my domain name?

This is my first time registering a domain name and setting up a business web site, so I'm a little nervous.

Thank you very much for any help.

If you're not the administrative contact for the domain name I think you're going to have a hard time transferring it if you cancel your account with them. If you look at the whois information for the domain are you listed as any of the contacts?

Thank you for the reply. For the administrative contact, I put my friend's name and business address. For the technical contact I put myself down.

What do you think is going to happen? What should I do?

Thanks.

Why don't you contact them and see what they say? You should offer to pay for the domain since you're not staying with them for a year. On the other hand, if you have a small site, you don't need to worry to much about using to much bandwidth and being kicked.

If your friend is listed as administrative contact it is very easy to transfer the domain name to another host. Your new host will just submit a DNS change for you or walk you through the steps depending on what registrar you are using. It is hard to give you specifics on how to do this without knowing who they registered it through. If you post or send me the domain name I can give you more information.

As for getting a refund, you will have to find out what their policies are on this. I could not see anything listed on the site about it. If they did not live up to their end of the agreement (they have a 99.9% uptime guarentee listed on their site) and you paid by credit card you should be able to get your money back by contacting your credit card company.

First, why aren't you asking them. Second, when looking into doing hosting, read all the fine print, and make sure you know as much as possible, before turning over the plastic.

Thank you for the reply. Yes, I did contact them, and they replied with the following:

How large is your web site?
It states on on site the following:
Unlimited Bandwidth means we don't charge your for the amount of traffic you get at
your website. If you get 100 visitors a month, or if you get 1,000,000 visitors a... blah, blah, blah

As you can see they didn't give me a straighforward answer.

I'm thinking of just staying with them. I doubt my friend's website is going to generate a tremendous amount of hits. What do you suggest?
