Hello,

I have a client who seems really wrapped up on email.. for some reason.
Anyway.

When an email is sent from my server, in the email properties once its been recieved it says:

Received: from [216.118.80.98] (helo=churchill.mywebserver.net)

When he wants it to say:

Received: from [216.118.80.hisip] (helo=mail.hisdomain.com)

He has an account with a dedicated IP, i would have thought that this should have done it automatically (put in his mail.hisdomain.com)
Or is he asking for something that is not possibly?

Any help/info would be nice :)

Regards

Craig

Nope, that's not the way Exim works. Because it is a virtual domain on a dedicated box, only the main server name is transmitted to the receiving party.

Sorry to disappoint your customer, but that's the way it works.

Weinbar is right, you can't totally get rid of your server name.

You can also register and setup an anonymous domain something like Anonhost.com and name your machine as server1.anonhost.com.
