View Full Version : Help?!?!: Real Server on a RaQ3

I am currently running a RaQ3 through 4WS and have tried to install Real Server Basic on it to serve up streaming audio for a potential client. After trying the install per the given instructions, I could not access the admin section via the specified port, and have no way of confirming the install was successful (although audio does not stream)

What I need is anyone who may have either successfully installed Real Server ?8.5? on a RaQ3 or anyone who knows of complete instructions specific to a RaQ3. I realize that http streaming is an option, but it does not allow multiple bandwidths, and doesn't work through some firewalls. I have also searched the Cobalt User List up and down, and have only come across people who say they have done it but don't mention any specifics about the install.

Worst case scenario, I would be willing to consider having someone else do it for a reasonable rate, but I would prefer to read some specific documentation first...

Any help that anyone can provide would be very much appreciated...

Thanks in advance,
Johnathan Brandon

Hy,

there's a support form at the homepage of Real Audi. if i remember correct you can use this to get free support. They are really fast in answering emails. So try it, perhaps they can help you.

Greetings
Oliver

I will try that... thanks for the pointer...

also, I read in a post over on Cobalt that it could make a difference, so I wanted to add that I do have PHP4 and mySQL installed.

Thanks again,

Johnathan,
I had the same problem. I installed it and the admin URL was working fine. Then I rebooted the raq and it would'nt work. the realserver needs to start every time a raq is rebooted so I added the following line to /etc/rc.d/rc.local

/usr/local/realserver/Bin/rmserver /usr/local/realserver/rmserver.cfg &

i'm not sure if this is the correct answer to your question but i guess its worth a try

arrty, thanks for the information, I am sure that I will need to do that, but I never got the actual admin pages to come up. During the install it asked me for ports for the admin pages and if I remember correctly it randomly suggested on for use... When I try to go to that page using that port number, it get a page not found error... I am probably fighting two fronts now though, because I have rebooted my machine and I figure the real server probably isn't started now anyway.

Did you do anything special during the actual install? Is it on a RaQ3?

Thanks again,
Johnathan Brandon

Yes I have a Raq3 and I did not do anything special I just choose the default values.

the admin pages are at

http://mainIP:13274/admin/index.html

If you think that you choose anothe port then check the realserver dir for a config file. It should have the installed port
