View Full Version : I've found 40mb for 15$/year in GB!!!
Tom H 07-18-2001, 07:54 AM Have any of you heard if haisoft?
I've just come across it. They offer everything (frontpage, php, sql, perl cgi etc...) and unlimited users and domains. They seem to have 3 different offers: 40mB for only 15$ per year!
They also say that if you find a better offer they will match it!
I personaly didn't think that such a good offer could exist, could anyone tell me weather it is any good?

davidb 07-18-2001, 08:03 AM Well I do not know about the company, but that is pretty cheap. This is what has been brought up befoe with hosts that cost that little, What kind of support or service will you get for 15 dollers. The answer is not alot. Test them out though, send a couple of sales emails and see how they respond.
(SH)Saeed 07-18-2001, 08:04 AM First of all, $15/year for _unlimited_ bandwidth is just impossible and simply not true. Secondly, from looking at their website, I can tell you that they are not professionals or even close (probably teens). They don't even have a TOS/AUP (or at least I couldn't find one). Thirdly, if they were making enough money from webhosting to keep the business online, they wouldn't really need a banner on top that refreshes ever 10 seconds.
There are many reasons why I think you should stay away from them. You could always try searching for "unlimited" and read a little since that has been discussed many times in the past.
XTStrike 07-18-2001, 08:20 AM it must be great for the owner of your web site (Hordern, Philip philipsantiques) to live within 44miles of the owner of haisoft.net ?
i mean, if you ever needed to contact him it wouldnt be too much of a journey to travel to kick their ass if you had any problems with their service :-)
mlovick 07-18-2001, 08:23 AM Sounds like get rich quick merchants.
Unlimited bandwidth - CRAP CRAP CRAP!!!
No such thing. Bandwidth is the most expensive thing about this business and no matter what is said by any ISP : IT IS MONITORED!
When you reach a certain level they will cut you off - its a fact. Or if they themselves are a reseller for another ISP they will be cut off themselves - its a fact. Just do a search on this forum you will find that it happens time and time again.
Why do people keep getting sucked into these things.
I can understand - unlimited disk space (as much as needed) as you can always add more hard drives as needed) but unlimited bandwidth - yeh right.
SoftWareRevue 07-18-2001, 08:52 AM :puke: unlimited
gitaarwerk 07-18-2001, 11:31 AM lol@anidiot..
I saw you on the ping production forums :)
I have one thing to say about UNLIMITED :(
IT SUX!!!,. I have been on servers with unlimited stuff, and it sux, everytime the service went down.. I lost just 20$, but lost mony is a shame,..
Try to look for reasonable hosts and try not to prive many downoads, it cost the bandwidt :(
Cephren 07-18-2001, 11:36 AM Bandwidth Prices ranges from cheapest $3/GB to $5/GB.
If your site hits over 100 GB+ in a month on a shared server, on a $15/mth plan I am quite sure either your host will ask you to leave, or lock your bandwidth to something like a cable modem. Why? 1. bogging down a shared server and affecting other clients. In most cases a site which consumes a lot of bandwidth usually contains hundreds of connections, which in end pushes up CPU load, thus in end slowing every shared client on the same server. 2. $15 dollar cannot pay for the actual bandwidth.
Why doesnt many host adult sites on shared servers? Thats cause they consume too much bandwidth and pose security problems.

anthony69 07-18-2001, 11:58 AM Regarding the Unlimited Bandwidth....definitely check their TOS (Terms Of Service). If they don't have a Bandwidth limit, they may have a systems resources limit.
That means you could transfer 10GB in a month, but if it crashes the server you'll have to start paying...or get removed.
Certain features can be given away because they cost little to nothing for the host...but bandwidth is ALWAYS monitored.
Thanks
Anthony

yuffie123 07-18-2001, 11:59 AM Can't trust these unlimited deals, secured.net.net's starter package is supposedly unlimited bandwidth and what happened was they basically took my money and vanished. What did I get? nothing!!!
SurfB 07-18-2001, 02:11 PM All I can say is one word SCAM!
It is not a sustainable business at $15 per year and unlimited bandwidth, we all no is crap.
On checking the site http://www.haisoft.net/hosting/HaiHost40.html
It states:
" If you order one of our plans, you must read and accept our Terms and Conditions."
Try and find a link to ther terms & conditions you won't find them.
On a final point how come when ever anyone finds these so called new hosts doing great deals is it a new person to webhosting talk with there first post. Well we can all speculate on that one can't we. ;)
Surfb
i sent them email but did not heared any thing
webzone.ro 07-18-2001, 02:48 PM It looks to me that this is a sort of
UNLIMITED GPL LICENCE WEBHOSTING :D
LOL
mlovick 07-18-2001, 03:09 PM Unlimited Bandwidth = Unlimited Frustration
= Unlimited Complaints = Unlimited Downtime =
Unlimited Negative Reputation For Your Website.
The downsides are Unlimited -
foreach $limit (@unlimited) {
print "I have been suckered";
}
:D
benoire 07-18-2001, 10:23 PM these guys are webtapestry resellers and i've heard enough bad press about webtapestry to avoid them, so it really should be a no go
Jonathan K. 07-18-2001, 10:31 PM I think you've heard enough but if you want more...
Do a search through these forums for "unlimited", "unmetered" "bandwidth" and you'll start to understand why everyone laughs at such promises claimed by a web host.
XTStrike 07-19-2001, 03:48 AM OK OK OK, I think we get it :D
They have been significantly bashed into the ground, lol
Let this thread serve as a reminder of the guy that tried to promote haisoft.com and actually failed miserably giving it a worse reputation that it originally had before the afore mentioned post :)
Raven69 07-19-2001, 06:13 AM this hhos sux..a ripoff if ya ask me.:puke:Really theres better deals at:

Sorgboi 08-01-2001, 06:52 AM It's funny, I prefer having limited bandwidth - they actually tell you the cut-off point (with control panel monitoring!)... with the option to buy more.
I honestly don't mind paying that little extra for peace of mind... with all these "unlimited bandwidth" deals you never actually get told the real cut-off point (and I bet you some are LOWER than limited accounts!)
Anyhow, that's my tuppence.
Sorg
determinist 08-01-2001, 08:40 AM Hmm... this is wierd... I don't see any unlimited bandwidth offer on their site... maybe they change their plans, it's 1, 2 and 5Gigs respectively for their plans, check it again, http://www.haisoft.net/hosting/
microsol 08-01-2001, 09:25 AM Did you have a look at this url (http://www.haisoft.net/hosting/) ?
