For those who are using PLESK.
Do you have problem with SMTP Outgoing Mail Server?
I tried Eudora & MS Outlook Express, but most of the times, I have hard time sending out mails.

does it hang for a few seconds before sending the emails ? if yes, you might want to change your host/server settings to the correct machine name.

How do you have your Mail services configured? I've tried mine with POP3 authorization and with SMTP authentication, and it hasn't given me any significant problems. The only thing users need to be careful about with POP3 authentication is to check their e-mail before outgoing mail is sent.
I'm using Outlook Express, by the way.

Yes, I have the same setting:
POP3 authorization and with SMTP authentication.
Many time, it won't send and out an error.
At sometime, it'll let me send outgoing mails for couple of minutes, then it stops me.

What's the error message it gives you?

Hello,
I am at the library right now.
I will post the error once it happens again.
This problem only happens when I am using Outlook, Eudora, and other mail client software.
It doesn't seem to happen if I use a pop mail service such as hotmail, yahoo.com, and any other web based pop mail services.

Hey, I'm using Plesk and it does hang a little on checking and sending email. What exactly do I have to do?

This is what i did, I went to the /usr/local/plesk/apache/conf
directory and edited the httpsd.conf file. look for your server name like localhost in section 2, the main server config. and change server name to your machine name (yourserver.yourdomainname.com)
Also, check the tcp server config. line and change the server name to >yourserver.yourdomainname.com.
