I have a question on the banning policy here. I've seen some Hosts that spam get nailed and removed almost instantly. Their hosting company is banned and so is their username. I've seen this happen with people who have two usernames as well. Doesn't seem like much warning is given they just get banned. Works pretty effectively and I'm not questioning the practice...;)

The question is, would this same policy to ban the URL and usernames apply to a Host that has his staff join a heated thread that involves their company?

Each case is examined individually. It really depends on all circumstances.

No. We do not discuss actions taken against other members with users. That is a violation of the banned member's privacy.

As usual, you can rest assured if someone is banned, they violated WHT rules in some manner.

So then an email to the moderators addy with the thread URL would be the best thing to do in this case?

Sure, except we are still going to say the same thing. When someone has been banned the reason for the banning is between the users and the moderators. Sometimes other users can guess the reason for the ban, but it is still not something that we will discuss.

I don't want to discuss it really, I was trying to get some clarification on the rules that's all. I'll send the email in then it's up to the mods. I will hope for the best and try to forget about it after I hit send...;)

One look at the language he used will certainly tell you why he was banned.

A heated debate is one thing to have on WHT and can be a good thing. However, when the attacks become personal, I believe that is when it needs to be addressed immediately.

At least that's how I run my personal site forum.

That is pretty funny all his - I am not banned posts. I think the mods here do an amazing job of not being too restrictive but stepping in when needed. I wish RS's own forums were patrolled as such so people like cornfused would be gone.
