View Full Version : Domain Reselling - Everyone!
HostRod 06-20-2003, 05:10 PM Hey everyone I need to know who has the best package available. My concerns are, My Name in the Whois Results for register, All transfers out have to go through me for approval, low startup cost and a good price for domains.
I looked at enom, they want $500.00 deposit, and I looked at godaddy but it apppears that you have to do some kind of profit sharing with them.
Let me know what you are using and why!
Thanks everyone!
Chris
Incognito 06-20-2003, 09:32 PM All transfers out have to go through me for approval Sure exposes your customer to risks.
freakysid 06-20-2003, 09:39 PM Don't go through enom directly - become a reseller under another trusted reseller. It is cheaper to get started. I resell under ffeingol (Frank) - give him a yell, he is a member here.
m2dek 06-20-2003, 09:59 PM explore all your options, if you want to resell domains, try tucow's service. well bottomline look at the giant registrar's and small one's and see what are the positives and negatives and which one best suits you.
NexDog 06-20-2003, 10:14 PM We paid $495 to enom a years back to get up and running. It paid for so many domains in advance. Have their PDQ site now and its all in auto heaven.
You should go through a trusted enom reseller instead of going directly to enom. This way, you won't have to deposit $500 to get $8.95 rates.
Knogle 06-21-2003, 02:40 AM Is there any advantage of going through a trusted reseller instead of going directly to eNom? And likewise, and advantage of going to eNom directly?
Toeki 06-21-2003, 02:42 AM Our price to you is
$9.95 per domain name when you agree to credit your account for 20 names ($199.00),
$8.95 per domain name when you agree to credit your account
for 55 names ($495.00) $7.95 when you credit your account with $3,975.00 (500 domain names),
and
$6.95 when your account is credited $6,950.00 (1,000 domains).
This credit is for new domain registrations, renewals or transfer
of domains to your Enom account.
The reseller accounts are cumulative, so once you register up to 500 domains your price will drop to $7.95. The difference in becoming a direct Enom reseller and going though a reseller is you can contact Enom with any questions regarding your domain and our technologies. If you go through a reseller you will have to contact them for any of these questions. Please do get back to me with any questions or print out and fax back the Technology Partner Agreement. Thank you!
freakysid 06-21-2003, 09:04 AM As a reseller of a reseller of enom you get equal access to the slow (at times non-existant) customer support s being a direct reseller. I am sure that like most thing in life it comes down to the fact that the amount of support you get is in direct proportion to the amount of business (money) you do.
I actually like the fact that I can ask my reseller about this or that and get a response much quicker than I will get from enom - and only relly on enom for critical techical issues.
Senad 06-21-2003, 09:48 AM You can always pay the icann fees ;).
non-refundable US $2,500 application fee
You will also receive an invoice for the annual fixed portion of the accreditation fee, which equals US$4,000 for the first TLD, and US$500 for each additional TLD.
nickn 06-21-2003, 10:07 AM What are the difference between tucows and enom?
NexDog 06-21-2003, 10:13 AM One sucks, one rocks.
nickn 06-21-2003, 10:31 AM Thanks for your much informative post...
Now anyone wish to give a real answer? or maybe some reasons... ;)
Opensrs (tucows) was real good 1-2 years ago.... but now their prices are too high compared to enom or godaddy. Other than price opensrs is a real good system.
seltice 06-21-2003, 01:03 PM Bulkregister is only $79 to start, and you can register domains to your account via email so it's easy to implement into your site.
Personally, I like Gkg.net. I've resold their services for about 6 mos. now, and its great, support is almost un-beatable, and they are still generally small, and know everyone by name aswell.
.com.net.org 06-22-2003, 03:35 PM eNom
I'm also interested in this. Who offers the best service for domain reselling, between enom, bulkregister, online nic, etc? Price is not a problem, but the support service and features must be real good.
bitserve 06-22-2003, 07:29 PM The op asked about a reigstrar that has a reseller plan that shows your name in the whois results. Does enom do that? I believe that they show enom as the registrar.
Also, I don't think that they let you disapprove transfers.
Perfecthost 06-22-2003, 09:43 PM We were one of the first to sign-on at Godaddy.com, when they started the reseller program (now WildWestDomains.com). We have paid $99/year for several years for this priviledge. After their mess up this past week (we could not log in to register or renew domains---some were lost and cost customers a lot of money....and a lot of ugliness in the process), we are also looking for alternatives. Which enom reseller do you suggest we talk to?
NexDog 06-22-2003, 10:30 PM Mark, Enom is shown as registrar in whois results and you can't approve/dosapprove transfers.
Check the domain name forum, you will find reliable enom resellers there.

That's what I thought. :)
enom is the registrar, but whois show your company name also:

freehomepage 06-23-2003, 03:56 PM my domian name registrar, www.planetdomain.com, charges a really low set up fee (something like $25) and their rates are pretty low ($7.50/domain if you do over 100/month)
Also, my company shows as the "registered thru" contact on whois.

okihost 06-23-2003, 05:45 PM One thing to take in mind that I have noticed since switching from GoDaddy to Enom is that Godaddy has live support you can call and Enom has a support system that is pretty much non-existant..
I used GoDaddy when I was manually registering domains for customers and switched to Enom when I started using modernbill and though you don't need support from them that often it is frustrating waiting a week for a answer from Enom support compared to calling up GoDaddy and getting someone on the phone in minutes.
seltice 06-23-2003, 05:55 PM After contacting Enom myself to get their reseller prices, I wasn't too impressed. It seems somewhat costly to get involved, and I don't know where the real benefit is.
I also have a GoDaddy reseller account, and a Bulkregister reseller account. The only down-side to Bulkregister.com is that you can't give each customer personal control over their domain.
Are there any other registrars that offer cheap reseller prices for domains but a more reasonable startup cost? What about OpenSRS, any experience there?
okihost 06-23-2003, 06:02 PM Your cheapest solution would be get a free $8.95 or but a $7.95-$6.95 account here at wht. Enom wants a big chunk just to start out.
seltice 06-23-2003, 06:10 PM Here at wht? Where is this?
freakysid 06-23-2003, 09:55 PM You will find enom resellers hanging around the domain names forum.

They look pretty tempting. I'll probably give them a go some time in the next few weeks.
There are lots of enom resellers at WHT. Just search Related Offers.
