What's with the increase of start up game server hosts? It seems that more and more people are starting to jump on the band wagon. I'm even seeing more hosts overing 20 person public counter-strike servers for $60. Obviously the kiddies see that and cancel with us thinking they are getting a better value, when in fact that other company won't be around for another month. I don't know, just trying to blow off steam.

online gaming is becoming very popular. i have a feeling they will be getting rid of consoles in the near future. i prefer online gaming since its more competitive.

Obviously a big chunk of the online gaming market has no clue what they are getting into when renting a server..... They'll go for the cheapest they can get, and the servers are always junk.

One of the most popular ones i know of, is dirt cheap, been around forever, and their servers are so bad that any decent league teams won't even play in them, so if you have a private server from them, nobody will ever play you on it.

People need to realize that quality bandwidth, and quality hardward cost money. You get what you pay for in the game server industry. :D

agreed, it's very agitating to see everyone running server companies off rackshack servers for example. blah

And what really sucks is they will keep going with the cheapest hosts they can find - never learn their lesson

So true.

I try to provide my best quality but Ezzi keeps getting worse and worse. They're my east provider and I'm getting out of there for sure! Everytime I complain to them, they email me back saying "is it better now?" when it gets a lot worse ... so I'm going to stop bothering with them and now I'm in search of a new East provider.

What do you guys recommend? I'm thinking Dedicatednow or nocster but I'm not sure.

Thanks.

If you can affordd it NetFire/Internap seems to be the provider of choice for higher end providers.

As JeremyL said, NetFire seems to be the main provider for the current big game server companys out there. NetFire has good bandwidth quality and their pricing isn't too expensive. :)

Quality yes, but not too expensive? Thier site quotes like $600/mth for 1mbps. I know contacting them directly will prolly get a cheaper price but my god that is highway robbery :P I can get verio all day long for like $100-$150 per MBPS without buying bulk.

Well, I mean it's not too expensive for what you get. Good quality bandwidth is worth a lot now days ;)

Sometimes. I've seen high priced services that sucked (most have gone out of biz) and somewhat low prices services that rock (like Innova at www.deadlyservers.com ). Price is a good indicator, but the best way is to ask to speak to some of their clients and play on their serverss

Actually www.deadlyservers.com is averaged priced at about 4.75 per slot on pub CS. They are definitally making a profit. I think what most are complaining about is peeps who rent $99 servers and overload them with crappy bandwidth and sell them for like $3 per slot or less.

we get kiddies who KNOW they are switching to a laggy provider, because they will save themselves £2 per month. Crazy!
