Well im sat at work right now playing with my Cobalt RAQ internal box.... One of my fellow techs suggested that i turn our support cobalt into an internal support chat. now he wants me to use IRC ...
I've only ever chatted twice in IRC so have no clue how to set one up... can someone share with me how i would do this?
Do i need to open up a port on my RAQ4?

Search IRCD @ www.google.com
You'll come up with a bunch of information on setting up your own IRC network.
I would suggest such software as UnrealIRCD: http://www.unrealircd.com/
Then you would need a Chanserv, Netserv, Opserv, etc... These are called IRCD Services. You can find them on the Unreal website also :)
Have Fun :)

My God unrealircd is bloatware. :P
You got your 200 extra non standard channel and user modes in that.
You got your half-ops which is useless!
I'd recommend researching for a better ircd.. *ahem* sorry, trying not to be too brutal.. but that ircd is bloated :(
(too much for my tastes, anyway.. sorry)
Umm, what does my opinion matter. Sorry.
