GideonX 06-19-2003, 11:03 AM you can always download Smartftp: http://smartftp.com/
surpass 06-19-2003, 11:27 AM I have used WS_FTP for years, it never fails.
Take a visit to http://www.download.com and type it in.

Consider that seconded. We use filezilla here exclusively, and it's never let us down. Even has sftp support for secure transfers..

indianajones 06-19-2003, 11:50 AM Thanks I have chosen Smartftp to try
surpass 06-19-2003, 11:54 AM Darn! He chose Smart!!
:D
IGobyTerry 06-19-2003, 12:43 PM I use SmartFTP. My only complaint is that after 90 days it warns you that you haven't updated it, and then once I update it, I still get that warning message. But other than that, it kicks butt.
Bif Powell 06-19-2003, 12:54 PM I've always had good luck with Seagull FTP, you have to register on their site to activate it, but it doesn't cost anything.
ENSupport 06-19-2003, 01:15 PM *puts on smart hat*

ENSupport 06-19-2003, 01:33 PM i top that with sftp :P
akashik 06-19-2003, 02:31 PM WS_FTP is a great program:
http://www.ftpplanet.com/download.htm
has both the free version, as well as the 30 day trial of WS_FTP Pro.
Not pretty, but a good little workhorse.
blue27 06-19-2003, 02:33 PM I'll put my vote in for WS_FTP.
I've been using it for quite a while. Easy interface.
idologicJeff 06-19-2003, 02:34 PM Whats wrong with the DOS commandline FTP program? ;)

It doesn't support passive mode. :)

trustedurl.com 06-20-2003, 09:49 AM why not use winscp2? I know it's not ftp, but it's secure :)
anyways, I say ncftp all the way and I raise by $10!
akashik 06-20-2003, 10:07 AM How about you guys stick to the topic and offer suggestions on 'freeware ftp programs' mkay? ;)
Rich2k 06-20-2003, 10:22 AM WS_FTP Pro 8 compared to WS_FTP LE... WOW.. what a nice bit of software. Less buggy than version 7 too.

m2dek 06-20-2003, 09:37 PM i recommend ws_ftp. it works and is small and fast.
NexDog 06-20-2003, 09:49 PM ws_ftp is a great program. I use the pro version and have done for years. I like it immensely. :)
DayGlo 06-20-2003, 10:13 PM In windows i use SmartFTP, OSX i use rbrowser lite and the command line, linux i use ncftp.
There are some decent cross platform java ftp clients too, check sourceforge.
Knogle 06-20-2003, 10:25 PM I decided to give FileZilla a try.. and I'm very pleased with it so far. I've only used it for a couple of hours though. :)
