I made about $2000 off of AllAdvantage back in the day. Roughly $200-$220 per month for about a year. I had like 10 accounts tiered one to another for maximum referral and I ran a macro that kept my mouse moving while I slept or was at work.

Ya big cheater! ;). I actually had 4 different ones running at once, in the early days and they all ran. Wrote my self a quick little app that moved the mouse and clicked occasionally (for the onces that required it). Made a pretty good amount of money.

@#%! !!!! I hope they do. I forgot about my account, then I logged in and I noticed I was near cashout (from referrals that don't use the service anymore). So now I run the spediabar trying to get the few extra bucks so I can get my check. That is of course if they send it...

I got a nice check for $100+ from spedia years ago. My second request for a check (for a large amount) two or three years ago yielded no response from them.

Oh well. :D

I've never tried any of these, but sounds like some people here got some easy money. How was this profitable to the companies?

I see, but I thought someone said there was one currently running? And I can't imagine how it wasn't profitable at all, I mean what were they thinking when they made these web sites? What was the goal?

Well, they have changed a lot now. Many of them still exist, and use different (annoying) revenue techniques. For example, Spedia now has about 4 pop up ads when you load the spedia bar. But mainly, some are able to stay in business because they pay practically nothing.

The ad industry was booming then. Hence the companies.

Now, that's no longer true.

spedia made me earn about $30 - $40 a month though i was online 24 hours...
but after a while they stopped paying. I think that get paid to surf industry has died.

The idea of paying people if they put ads on their screen was really, really stupid even back then.

Anyone with a lick of sense would know what would happen. Some people will leave their TV on for hours without watching but there is no incentive to leave the TV on. The pay to surf programs were paying to do so.
